Your favorite part....

[:-^] Just wonderin’…

When you build an armored vehicle, [:D] what is your favorite part to work on?

Examples are: Running gear, turret, interior or details like tools or other accessories …whatever. The part you like to do the most.

Steve

My favorite part? Screwing the model onto the base – because it means I’m DONE!

LOL. I think I enjoy dry fitting the major parts together just to see the individual parts start to look like the tank or AFV…

heya steve[:)]-- I know your favorite part!!-- the weathering-- yes?[:D]-- I like it all except those dang wheels!-- tread[8D]-- p.s.-- I find the parts that may have been most frustrating to me during the building, are more rewarding than the stuff that came easy[:)]

The weathering…or the interior…[8-]

Well, [party] I get a kick out of the tracks & wheels, so you can say yeah to the weathering cause that brings 'em alive…

T26E4 [:D] Yes, I know what you mean. Usually when I finish a project [xx(] I’m so burnt out I’m glad it’s done.

Steve

Interesting twist on the topic…I usually think of stages to the build vs. individual parts…so never really considered if a certain element of the build was my favorite or not…but if I had to choose, I would say the tracks, especially if they are a workable set. Something about that step that I find more relaxing than any of the others. [;)]

I like detailing - like taking the twisted tungsten from an old lightbulb to make a tiny spring, or putting together sixteen pieces to make a working periscope, etc., etc.

I also like weathering, especially filters and painting markings (me + decals = disaster)

I hate basecoats, but for some odd reason I find pleasure in taking the oven cleaner to a messed up paint job.

Man, you’re messed up.

[(-D] LOL!

[#ditto] i would rather buy another kit than try cleaning the paint off one heh, i would have to say the weathering is my most pleasurable part but i do enjoy the building and if i had to chose i would say the turret because to me the main gun really starts to make the model look like a tank.

[(-D] I guess ya really get [%-)] frustrated when you build one of those turret-less subjects!

“smarty had a party and nobody came” [(-D]

Im sticking with the weathering answer now and you cant stop me heh

It’s mi ha party an I’ll cry if I want to… [(-D] lol!

I’m with Doog on the interior parts that you can see looking into the hatches.

Definately the weathering. My specific favorite is using a Thinner soaked Q-tip (cotton swab) to remove my washes from the model leaving it only in places like panel lines and rivets. I love it because, in 10 minutes it goes from looknig liked a ruined build covered in my thin black wash mixture, to a great model fairly far under progress.

Actually if (when[;)]) you do mess up a paint job, easy off oven cleaner will take it off really easily. Just spray, let sit for 20 minutes, and it rinses off under the faucet. Much better than buying a new kit.

I also like getting the big parts together and especially the gun, it’s what makes the tank a tank[^]

My favourite part is the turret and guns.

Does reading the directions or opening the box and checking out the bags of sprues count? [:D] I’ll just pour over both countless times before I actually build anything. I do like spraying the basecoat. To me, that signifys that the main building is finished and the kit begins to really look like something.

Yeah, I with you Eric! I love it when the primer or basecoat goes on and the whole vehicle is ready to come aliiiiiiive! [party] Oh, excuse me, I have to remove mold seams from 32 roadwheels…

I don’t know my favorite. Haven’t been building enough of them to figure it out. However, I can say this. I HATE working on the wheels and tracks. However the tracks are the most rewarding part of the build, when they are complete. They look so damn good, and cool, and realistic.

Michael

[yeah] I’ll open and check out the kit many many times before even cutting off the first part, just to get familiar with it. I usually get in my minds eye what I want it to look like and then start [zzz] losing sleep coming up with different ways of accomplishing what I want. Funny, a lot of my ideas come when I’m sleeping. [(-D] I guess you could really say “I never know what I’ll dream up next”… or, even worse… [:-^] “I’ll have to sleep on it”.
