When you’re settled in for a quiet evening of model building,
what’s your favorite snack? For me, it has to be pretzels (to avoid getting greasy fingers on plastic & paint!) and a cold LaBatt’s Blue (Canada’s finest export!)
What do YOU munch on, and why??
Whatever’s available, though I usually don’t snack whil building. Cigarettes, however, are a requirement.

Yo, P & D,
OMG. LaBatt’s Blue & Camel Lights, that does it for me.
P - is it true that LaBatt’s is Canadian Coors? [:D]
Bud Dry and whatever is handy. Since I quit smoking 7 years ago!
A pack of Marlboros and something cold to drink. I learned my lesson with snaking at a young age. I was building an F-14, with the bottom painted white, while eating Cheetos. Needless to say, it looked like Chester had been working on my plane.
Way to go T!! Got any good tips to chuck those things?
While I’m wooking a good cup of tea works as long as things are going well. If things arnt going well than its, Rye & 7 and if they are getting worse strait rye and a long walk.
An ice cold Heineken and a pinch of Skoal Long Cut does it for me, although I keep quiting the Skoal off and on but haven’t yet found a suitable replacement for it. Right now I’m off the wagon on the Skoal so everything is humming along nicely.
Hoser, as for the quitting smoking, I used the Nicotine gum. But the truth of the matter is: IF you’re NOT ready to quit, YOU WON’T.[:(]
I quit a three pack a day habit almost seven years ago now, but I enjoy a dark beer or gin&tonic while building! I don’t generally eat while I work but a sandwich is a good excuse to give it a break for a few minutes.
Woody, last June was 7 years for me and I was at the 2 and a half to 3 pack a day point too.
I guess modeling is a good diet program for me since I don’t really snack while doing it, never realized it till now. Guess I get my mind busy on building and forget about eating.
Cold turkey for me, how about you Tim? My poison of choice was Camel (Reg. no filter) and good cuban seed tobacco cigars. I quit at my wifes request but I told her I still wanted the occasional cigar. I ended up quiting the cigars a month after the cigs, too tempting. Did i mention that my wife quit at the same time I did, what a house of love and joy that was! LOL Memories… That reminds me I used to blow my smoke on my CA glue to help set it. Anybody else do that? LOL[:p][:D]
Oh, yea. I actually quit once in '89 for 2 and a half years (1 cigar was all it took to restart). [:(] Then in June 1996 I quit for good… The ONLY way to quit is Cold Turkey.
I enjoy a cup of fresh coffee. I quit cigars 3 years ago. After you quit you wonder why it took so long to make up your mind to quit. Congrats to everyone who has quit and good luck to everyone who wants to quit. It’s a mind game for sure.
That’s why I say If you’re not ready (so sick of smoking you’d rather die first) to quit, You WON’T.[:(]
And the reality of the situation is: I DON’T MISS IT![:D] Even after smoking for about 20 years.[:(]
I think if you felt better the next day after quitting, anybody could quit. The reality is that it is addictive and your returning stamina is gradual, so the net health gain isn’t readly noticable. Sure it is rough for awhile, but all I can say now is what was I thinking. I’m glad my will was strong enough that I didn’t have to use a crutch like the patch or the gum.
No food for me. I like a tall glass of Pepsi or a tall, cold Bud LIgtht. No cancer sticks here either.

Once I get started on a model, the time just flies by. No time for food or drink. Especially alcohol. While building the only time I smoked was when I went outside to spray paint some parts.
Smoke-Free for the past 16 months. Yes, I stll have cravings[}:)]
Congrats to all the former smokers. It is a tough road.
