I was trying to explain to my wife the other night how German tanks just look like tanks. The Sherman has that tall profile, the T-34 has that turret thrown so far forward, but the German Panzers (especially IV-King Tiger) just embody tankness.
I’ve always felt the B-25 is kind of the same with the medium bomber/gritty destroyer of stuff role. It just looks the part, IMO moreso than any other medium bomber. Can’t wait to get cracking on my PBJ!

I’m with pilot…the B-17! The most beautiful aircraft ever built!
Especially the F model.
For me it would be the Martin B-26 Marauder. Just a very cool plane. Often overlooked, too.
A B-25 would be a close second, tied with the Mosquito.
For fighters, the P-39. Another just very cool plane. A close second would be the P-51.
In the more modern arena… the P-2V Neptune and the E-2C Hawkeye. Very cool planes. A close second would be the P-3C.

I’ve got to go with the Me262. Following close behind would be the Bf109 & FW190, although I’ll build just about anything. For post-WW2 options I have to go with the early Harrier family.
B25.
For WWII it would be the P-51D. The looks and the sound of the Merlin engine make it.
Modern era, would be the F/A-18E or F variant. Mainly the F because it just looks mean.
Oh, this one’s easy for me; the Me 262. If I had the “candy”, I’d buy a brand new one…mmmmmm.

Me too. Close second the Sud Aviation Caravelle, followed by DC-3,4,6 and 8.
Too bad there aren’t more models of any of them, and no DC-3’s with cargo doors do not count.
He219 ,always did intrigue me for some reason. The big antenae and the sleek fuselage gave it a unique look.
Well, my favourite uncle when I was a kid worked for Avro both in the UK and Canada, so it has to be the Lancaster, with the Anson a close second.
However, when I was serving my engineering apprenticeship as a youth, I worked in the same factory in the UK that the Vickers Wellington was originally built in. (20 years after the war had ended I might add!), so that is also a firm favourite.
Luftwaffe? BF109 and Stuka
More modern? Republic F-84F Thunderstreak and Lockheed F-104G Starfighter in Luftwaffe garb

I’d be with Doogs picks (see Avatar).That’s my Dad, a WW2 Hell Hawk. There were four of them flying at the reunion last year in Colorado Springs. Also an exhibition flight featuring an F-4 and an A-10. Doesn’t get any better! We used to live in Tucson, near Davis Monthan, saw lots of A-10’s going and coming at low altitude and on the ground. Warthog Heaven!

My fave would be the A-26 Invader. After it dropped its bombs it turned into a fighter...could out turn some 109 variants. Also, I love ALL of the PTO carrier aircraft...especially the Widcat. Just like a Timex watch...could take a lickin and keep on tickin`!
WWII: P-47 in all its variations but especially the later ones with bubble canopies. B-25 gets my nod for bombers and the ones that are nothing but .50s up front even more so.
Vietnam: A-1 Skyraider. How you can hang that much ordinance on a wing and still get it to fly is beyond me.
Modern: A-10 all the way for the same reason as for the Skyraider. To my eye the most heavily armed bird in the sky is the sexiest.

I have always liked the Bf 109 E variant. For it’s day it was an absolute amazing aircraft. In my humble opinion very few others even come close.
Starfighter - just a good looking bird
SR-71 - beyond exotic
F-18 - good looking modern fighter and lots of versions to be built with aftermarket parts/decals help
Valkierie - Beyond awesome, especially when seen in person
B-58 Hustler - Just and unusual looking bomber with great performance

Oh man, there are just so many great planes…but if I have to narrow it down, I will narrow it down to two:
The Bf109(G series) just because it looks great and the B-24(later like the H and J)because my grandfather flew them in WW2.
