It was probably me more then anything,a lot of fit issues.Thank God for the Tamiyas.This builder on another site that I help with moderating is tackling it now,his build blog might be helpful to bookmark.
He definitely hits on sone of the problems.

Thank you so much. You had me thinking I should just get the newer kit. I’ve had these for 30 years!
I checked out his solution to the intakes and I think I can do that. I very much appreciate the info.

I’m with you Tony. Never finished the 1/48 Hasegawa F-14A. Could not get the intakes to fit. Gave the kit to a guy looking for parts. Looking forward to the Tamiya kit - I hear great things.
