rebel, wow thats quick
the reason I stopped was to get my airbrush fixed (been out for like two weeks) so I can paint the inside and the chairs
just ordered my stuka so I’ll be able to start in aweek or so depending!
ok CHANGE OF PLANS!! i feel like going back to my Polish roots and doing a 1/35 7TP polish tank from Mirage! now i dont know if ill do two of them (cuz theyre only $7 each!) but for now put me down for the single turret one…
I decided. I’m doing a 1/48 revell bf-109 e-4/7 with a cutting edge reisin cockpit.
Ok I know what I’m going to do. Tamiya’s 1/35 M4A3 Sherman.
sounds good. I updated everybody on the list.
FINALLY! some competition!
Well, you know how we had that discussion in the last thread about no competition. Well, I finally had some. The judges decided to delete the Juniors catagory since there were only 2 entries and make a military category and auto catagories.
I was very happy to recieve the best of show military against a very nice U-boat and some sort of german plane. And they were not juniors, that just boosts my confidence.[^]
anybody else make it to the Hobby town contest?
no, but i got to my local show today, er yesterday. finally finished my pz 38, n i got gold in my category plus best juniors against some good competition from some other kids. plus i made out like zoro at the vendors tables. [:D][;)] all-in-all, not a bad day!
yup. I made out with loads (130$) worth of stuff from the vendor tables at my local contest. I’m not entering juniors next time. Regular category for me!
The monkey has decided. Since I got this model April 2nd it counts. I shall not be doing the corsair like I thought. I’m doing a Revell 1/32 Panavia Tornado completely OOB (except decals maybe…) Hope that’s okay.
Wetmonkey
sounds cool wetmonkey. hope it comes out ok.
yea, im turning 16 in like 5 days ( tht explains how i made out with so much, thnx to family wonderin what to get me[;)] i aint gonna entr into juniors next year tho.
Is juniors really that not hard? I plan to enter my still unfinished model (just needs finished paint and weathering) I did for YG 1 at the upcoming competetion in Juniors. At the competition I went to in October (didnt enter anything), there were only 5 or so Junior models, and that’s scattered over all the categories.
BTW, what do you guys use for plant camo? I heard weeds and things like that, what do you guys use? (there are a couple of screwed up silly putty marks on top of my model, planned to cover them up with “camo”)
thanks
hey, Guess great minds tink alike. I was also planning on entering the regular section at the next event, no more juniors.
scer, this is why I think juniors is not all theat hard. Its got to be different in all places but the contests I have been to, there is a 10 yr old kid who enters his very firts model, and Here a 16 yr old easily takes the first prize away from him. I’d like to go to the bi guys so I can sort of know where I fit into them.
as for the bushes. I 'll get to those in a minute. I’m really busy right now.
u got NEthing u use for grass on bases? use some of that. if u dont have it, try to pick some up frm the train section next time, woodland scenics got something like that. their bushes work too. n look at some PE next time. its pretty easy to bend to shape, n then paint. looks good to.
(nother option: try some fine steel wool on the marks, it mite tak um off)
ok, scer for vehicle foliage heres a couple ways to do it.
Supplies–
-small root from weed, wire or twig. (weed root will look the best)
-some oregono leaves- cokking spices
-Woodland scenics polyfiber (method 2 only)
-areosol (spelling?) spray adhesive
method one
- twist and paint wire or paint weed root.
2.spray the adhesive to the twig, root or wire - sprinkle the Oregano leaves on the branch
done.
Method 2
- same as the previous method
- cover your branch with a little bit of polyfiber
3.spray the adhesive to th polyfiber and branch - sprinkle the Oregano leaves onto the polyfiber.
this will give it more of a fluffy, filled up shape.
this is also the method for making trees.
last mehtod is the PE leaves, I have never tried them so I cannot comment.
Man i’m still waiting for my stuka to arrive!, I’ve got a regional comp comming up soon which I’m going to enter my 1/72 B24D which I’ve been working hard on for nearly 6 months with lots of bomb bay detail and extra PE parts , just need to paint and weather it and she’ll be done!
Thanks rebel
I’m gonna stick with juniors for the IPMS regionals though, I’m talking Noreastcon, baby!!! And I’ll definitely stay in juniors when I enter the nats. But for my local contest, it’s regular all the way for me. Hey, gringe, how many juniors usually compete in Noreastcon, anyway? I’m comin’ this year, so you better watch out![;)]
i should really enter a competition…ive been keeping so many models from the public!!! id feel bad winning with a 10yr old, kinda like taking candy from a baby… but then a gain id hate to lose to a 10 yr old…so i guess GIVE ME THAT CANDY!!! rips lolly pop from hand runs to corner and eats treat
i havent ordered my 7TP yet, didnt have a chance to…(tennis team) but when i have time and a credit card ill order it! its pretty small so it should take very long, but maybe ill make (scratch) the interior to give it more detail and more work (yes, i love a challenge)
I dont envy you with the inerior. All the angles and such, seems really hard, but more power to you for doing it!
