This is an actual UK ad for the Honda Accord. It took 606 takes to get this ad. There are no computer enhancements or film edits. The ad used parts of the only 6 handmade Accords in the world. The new ones have rain sensors in the windshield that trigger the wiper blades automatically. The Honda engineers were horrified when the producers disassembled two of the cars for this ad. It cost over six million dollars to make, but the execs at Honda feel they’ll recoup their expenses by people simply watching this and going out to buy a Honda. The voiceover is done by Garrison Keillor. Really amazing stuff! - Ed
Keyworth,
Yeah, I’ve seen this before.
Absolutely amazing. To think that the tv advertisement we saw is ONE complete take - no edits, no computer enhancements, no CGI - that’s incredible.
I’ve owned Hondas for the last 20 years, and whenever I get a new(ish) car, I always buy a Honda - not because of their commercials, but because I’ve been impressed with the quality of the engineering of the motor vehicle - I just graduated from university, studying mechanical engineering, so I have a fair idea of what’s crap, and what’s not.
Honda does not make scruffy cars. They’re not the cheapest, but they’re bloody good cars.
Cheers,
LeeTree
That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen! Unbelievable! Makes those falling dominoes look kinda childish, doesn’t it?
Saw that on TV. Best ever car commercial, I think! Very original.
Pretty good commercial, Honda does make a good car. I owned an '85 Prelude that was a lot of fun and reliable. Are there any models out there of the mid-80’s Prelude? Oh yeah, I still prefer my Jeep though[:D].
