Guys,
Every so often, you come across people who just redefine what great modelling is all about. Take a look at Kenichi Aoki’s work over on Missing Lynx. This stuff is just too good.

I think I am just going to quit now. The spokes on that wheel blow my mind.
Wow. Can’t ever imagine doing that myself. I’d never get past the holes.
That’s just nuts! No bigger than a 100 yen coin!
Brian, how does that coin compare in size to a dime (if you remember)? I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around the size of this wheel. How could he get 36 holes in a 1/35 wheel. Let alone threading monofilament. Amazing.
Guessing the guy doesn’t have kids or a wife. The nagging and the shaking hands that go along with screaming infants and toddlers would preclude me from this type of build. That and a lack of skill, patience, know how, etc.
Wow…I suck.
You just KNOW the guys a great modeller when he makes you think that.
That’s devotion.
I gave up when I read “first drill 36 holes”… [:O]
Not even in my wildest imagination could I envision creating that kind of mastery. Semper Fi, mike
Fantastic work. Do Japanese modellers ever build straight out of the box? I am very impressed by what modellers do in Japan.
Oh my god… that’s amazing… I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy! [:0]
Well, I just rode a rollercoaster of reaction…
First, “I suck”. Hey, I could never do that!
Second (much later) came that feeling of being inspired. I’ve been thinking I wanted a bicycle in my current diorama, so I may try something similar…just to see if it’s as impossible as it looks!
When I stop appearing in the forums, you’ll know it was too much for me and I exploded.
THATS, why nobody likes doing tamiya’s bikes
I knew there was someone out there that was better then me.[(-D]

A 100 yen coin is just a tad smaller than a US quarter. Quite a bit larger than a dime. If memory serves me correctly!! [;)]
Yeah…36 holes? Do I have to tell you how terrible that would turn out if I tried it?? [:p]
Wow thats cool
shall we do a tour de france group build
Awww! That’s nothing… once I had to model a spiderweb for a diorama… yeah, that’s it… and it was a 1/72 scale spiderweb… yeah… and I figured out a way to spin glass thread from a plum… yeah, a plum (with the pit in it) and then spun the most perfect orb spider spiderweb you ever saw with that plum but I couldn’t use it because it was closer to 1/48 scale and… This bicycle tire guy is really, really good.
Lee, I think you’ve lost it!!
That’s some fantastic work. But I’m confused…if you drill 36 holes in the tire, what keeps the air in?? Did he have some of that Slime stuff in the tube or something?
What I REALLY want to know is…how the heck do you keep the hubs straight and in the center of the wheel? I couldn’t respoke a real bicycle wheel that well!
