I got the instrument panel back into my Hurricane today. I had to remove the rear bulkhead and stick to get some room to move. I placed the bottom of the panel on the frame crosspiece, then tipped the model as I prodded the panel into place. Gravity held it there as I applied the CA. SUCCESS ! [:D]
After giving it a few hours to dry, I Futured the airframe. When that was dry to the touch, I reglued the bulkhead and stick. I’m glad THAT’S over !
I washed the vac nosepiece for my Ar 234, and some of the Future softened (cloudy pool at the bottom). I re-dipped it, and it’s now good to go. I’ll be painting this one soon, so my Arado will be saved as well.
Thanks obiwan, ModelNerd, woodbeck, pingtang, subfixer, Rick, and Thad !
woodbeck - CA has great tensile strength, and weaker shear strength. Since I used tiny dabs to hold the bulkhead in place, it was easy to slip a blade in the seam and gently wiggle the part free.
subfixer - the bird poop suggestions were “amusing.” Since I receive so many congratulations for successes, I thought I’d share my failures as well. Not every attempt is successful in this hobby.
If mistakes made during a build increases your knowledge, I must be a walking encyclopedia by now ! I enjoy the challenge of the possibility of something going wrong. If I play it safe with a build, I find no enjoyment in it. Long live errors and corrections !
great attitude Pix, i live by the motto “If you don’t make mistakes, you ain’t doing anything”
some people tend to think that mistakes are bad, how untrue, it is part of the learning process [8D]
