I FINALLY got my hands on Classic Airframes 1/48 Bf109A!!! It cost me an arm and a leg on e-bay, but I can still build with my other arm and foot… [:O]
Sorrry if anyone else was bidding on that kit, I really wanted it. I’m trying to build at least one of each major variant of the Bf109 for my collection. [8D]
Soon, my plan to conquer the world will be complete, muwahahahahaaaaaaa [oX)]

Did you snipe the auction? [}:)] There’s nothing quite like getting that elusive 1-second snipe…manually. [swg]
I was tempted to snipe, however I woke up a couple times during the night in a cold sweat with nighmares about the auction ending before I had a chance to even bid [B)], so at almost 4 hours before the auction ended I made my bid… whew!! [:-^]
I wasn’t about to miss out on that kit, I still kick myself for not having picked it up at my LHS when it was came out… sigh. I learned my lesson the hard way on these limited run kits, if you really want it, buy it when it hits the shelves, otherwise it will cost you a small fortune later. [xx(]

I need to expand my collection with the F series, a couple other G’s and a K or two, in addition to a C and D.
I was watching that auction just to see what it would go for. I bought mine about a year ago for about $35.00 dollars I believe. These Classic Airframe kits are really getting up there in price. I started a Thread a couple of days ago about this that is why I was watching this one. I guess you are right, you gotta grab these suckers early cause man these prices are getting up there. I have seventeen CA’s in my possetion right now. The only one I do not have yet that I would like to add is the Hudson but they have been hitting the hundred dollar mark almost every time they come up and I just can’t bring myself to cough up a hundred dollars for one when I have 170 kits in the closet already. Glad you got your 109 espin I heard you talk about this kit a while back. Are you going to build any of the odd ball varients that were produced for your collection? I will eventually get around to building a K-14, Z-1 (5 30mm cannnons on a 109[:D])and a H-1 when time permits. They came up with some real zinngers.
I know what you mean, I have 2 Italeri (rebox dragon) ta-152 H-1 in my collection but neither one has the engine,good decals or all the other stuff the kit had in the past, I finally found a old dragon release on ebay with the engine. I can remember when this kit was easy to find with all the original goodies still in the box and didn’t cost that much outside of the LHS. had I known this I would have picked up all of them I saw a swap meets/show for between 10 and 20 dollars. The kit now with the engine, photo etch, and metal langing gear go for between 45 and 60$
I tell you, I wish I could have gotten my hands on a couple of the 109A kits as I’d like to build a several of the different prototypes, including the record setters like the one with the Rennmotor and painted overall with a sort of burgundy color, as well as the very first with the Kestral engine in it. But for the growing rate these 109As are going for on e-bay, it isn’t going to happen. [B)] [(-D]

I am a serial Ebay sniper… Nothing like the thrill of the hunt… You watch the item for days on end… You watch the bidding… you set up, and in the last 10 seconds…BANG!!! you just ruined somebody’s day… Muahahahahahahahahaha!!! but you end up with great kits for nickels on the dollar…[oX)]
Congrats on scoring the Bf109 A. CA has had some great subjects in their lineup I’d love to see rereleased. I know what you mean about the current prices on some of their kits. I’d love to get hold of their P-43 Lancer, Fiat G.55, or He 112, but prices on these are climbing almost daily. Glad I got my F2A-1 Buffalo and Westland Whirlwind before they go out of production. Now, to get the wife to let me buy the Defiant before its gone!

I’ve been reviewing the decal and marking options for this kit and as it stands right now I think I’m going to build it as one of the prototypes, V4 to be exact. I think that version would be cool to have as the “anchor” for my collection of all the “major” variants. [:)]

I wish I could get my hands on at least 2 more of the CA 109A kits and another D… [sigh]
I saw one of those 109A’S at my kruddy hobby shop here but it was 49.00 Bucks, I didn’t think it was worth that much[:O]
