This project is well on its way with more progress since these pictures were taken. The subject will be a Fort Garry Horse Sherman III with Dragon’s 6231 as the basis. Many years since I started modelling and only a few armour projects a long time ago, so here it goes.
Weld seams added, thanks to Disastermaster for mentioning his technique of laquer thinner and sprue. Worked well

If you built their M4 then you know the work involved in cleaning up mold lines and seams.
I will have to thank DM as well. I also used that trick on my build and it’s fantastic.
Another Sherman?! Bummer. [/end sarcasm] lol I love Shermans! These Dragon kits, as I’m really starting to figure out for myself, are kind of tricky to assemble at times. But worth the efforts when you iron out all the missing information and get things put together correctly.

Thank you’s to everyone for reading and comments. Seems there’s a lot of love for our friend the M4. There were enough versions produced to makes so many great projects. I was torn between a Normandy FGH of A squadron or late was of same Unit. Somewhere in the worldwideweb is a partial list of WD numbers of vehicles used by this unit.
Yes the kit turret was sanded smooth with Mr. Surfacer 1000 added and worked over for a stipple effect. Part of the problem was the lighting does not offer enough contrast to show the effect(had my flash off [:$]).
A book in my library was very helpful. 400+ pages with details and selected unit was diaries.
I used a piece of brass tubing filed in a drill vise for help in producing the weld seams.
Coming along nicely, following along as I find Canadian Shermans particularly interesting. I’ve also that book, and I think the serial list you might be referring to is MMP Books’ working pdf that is updated as new information comes to light:
Thank you for the link jgeratic . What I was thinking about was a list of WD numbers of some of the Shermans used by Fort Garry Horse and not mentioning any tank names. I will find the information if I keep digging.
A few items I noted in a picture I’m using as reference.
The first item is the bracket assembly above the ride fender. I’ve seen this on at least one other Canadian Sherman. Next is the removal of some of the end connectors on the spare track mounted above the transmission cover. Looks to be removed as to not to restrict the travel arc of the Hull gun.
The last detail is the center location of the engine deck cover lift handle.
Small details but some little things to help set it apart. I will not be doing a burnt wreck but something operational around the time frame that this vehicle was in combat.
Hi Mike. Times were so tough back then, unlike today everyone seems to have something in their back pocket to take a picture with. At least we can thank many of the wartime photographers for giving us a sliver of reference detail.
The ModelKasten track set T54E1 is taking forever to assembly but work continues. I just can’t seem to find a quick way to speed the production up.
