What is being used to replicate the yellow zinc chromate called for on the 1/35 OH-58D?
I prefer to use testors model master but I would gladly pick up something different to avoid mixing!
Thanks!
Mike

Any flat yellow paint will work. MM insignia yellow is good. Actually MM may have the exact color match in there new line of colors geared toward armor and aircraft builders, I can’t remember the name of the line of paints, but they have colors like US Army Helicopter Drab and Marine Desert Sand, etc.
Testors produces the flat yellow zinc chromate in its small bottles, item # 1184. They’re getting a little hard to find but are out there 'cause I bought a couple of bottles a week or so ago.
Real yellow zinc chromate is a little darker (pukey green?) than insignia yellow. You could add a few drops of black to the insignia yellow and get the same results. It sounds strange but you can match zinc chromate green and zinc chromate yellow by mixing black and yellow together.
Hope this helps a little.

Model Master does have yellow zinc chromate in its line, I just finished off a bottle of it the other day. I only bought it a year ago, so its probably still available out there.
Thank you very much for the help. I rushed out to my LHS and found what I needed!
