yellow decals

Hi
I got a couple of old models that the decals are turned in a strange yellow ( F104 hasegawa with Tauromodel decals <<37 Stormo 50th anniversary>> and a Hasegawa F18 in Marines operational low wiz. both 1/72)
Now i wish to change the decals ( F104 Red 9.99 and a CF18 433 sqn 60th special ) and colors off course…
So ,please can somebody have an advise for me, please?
By the the way i said that i will turn a Marines F18 onto a CAF CF 18 : there is some difference betwen those 2 aircraft?

I wish to thanks all of that will have the patience in reading and aswering me.

Cordially
Alex

Alex;

To get the yellow out of your decals. Tape them to a window that receives sunlight for most of the day. It will take a few days but the sunlight will leach the yellow out.

As far as the difference between the F-18 and a CF-18 there are differences, currently I do not have the list at my fingertips. So I will leave that to someone else, or get the details and post them if no one else does beforehand.

Great tip, Gregory. I wasn’t aware of that. Thank you

The only risk that I have experienced with the sun bleaching approach is that the actual colors of the decals bleached a bit as well on some of the lesser quality decal sheets I have attempted this with. Wasn’t overly noticeable, and as long as you are using decals on your subject all from the same sheet it shouldn’t matter… chalk it up to scale effect. [;)]

Mucker;

You’re welcome, but I can’t take credit for it. Someone else thought it up years ago and it has been published in FSM in articles and question section so your welcome for the passage. So we both owe a thank you to whoever thought this up first.

Gregory

Thanks a lot for the advises.
