Yellow 14

(due to the fact that there is not enoug traffic in the “decal” forum, I deleted that post & re-post here.)

Help!

I have been looking high & low for Marseilles Yellow 14 decals for 1/48th scale, and cannot find them, I’ve searchred under "Yellow 14’, JG-27, his name, …nothing…I have found other mounts from that unit, but not his…anyone out there know where his stuff can be found?

Thanks in advance, Dave.

(It’s for a ‘what if’ i’m doing…What if he was issued a Do-335?)

I’ve been chasing down the same set in both 1/48 and 1/32 for my son. So far, no luck. Roll Models had them in their online catalog, but when ordered them, I got a letter saying they were out of stock and did not expect to get any in.

I checked Roll Models again in 1/48, and though these sets did not have a picture with them, these sets might be something to chase down if you already haven’t:

SUP48-0761 BF 109F-4/G-4 Trop N Africa Aces

AMLD4807 BF 109F-4 Trop JG 27

Hope that helps!

Forgot to add- my LHS stocks a ton of decals. I’ll check with them Monday and see if they have anything in stock.

I’ve got a Micro Scale 32nd set with yellow 14.

jwb–groovy.

Wayne, would 1/32 work on a 1/48 Do-335? I have seen the 1/32 but I was worried it would be to big for a 1/48 Do-335. But I am also taking into consideration the fact that a 1/48 Me-109 compared to a 1/48 Do335 is a bit different in size. (I was hoping the math wizards would chime in here as to whether or not a 1/32 decal set for a Me-109 would work on a 1/48 Do-335. I think that it would be a smidge, [yes, that is a technical term], to big, even for the 1/48 Do-335.)

Danke’, Dave.

The 14 is .75 inches wide by .8 inches tall. Looking at the Monogram 335, it looks like it would fit before or after the exhaust stacks. And the Monogram box art I have, shows a very large number just aft of the cockpit. But it might be easier to just cut a stencil the size you want to paint the number, and raid some other decals for anything else you need.

Micro-Scale has done them - I’ve used them on an Aifrix Me-109 “F”. Bear in mind that H-J Marseille, the Eagle of Africa, flew more than one Franz. I’ve got information that shows a slightly different scheme than the usual version of Yellow 14. You will need to be quite specific about that.

For the decals, try Paul Milam; you’ll find him on ebay as “jetpilotpaul”
