Yankee Clipper

hey guys, someone has asked me to model this aircraft for them

it was a Boeing 314,the “yankee Clipper”,does anyone know of a kit,say with about a 12" wingspan?

If you can get hold of it ,AIRFIX did a quite nice Boeing Clipper in 1/144 scale. Markings were prewar PanAm and wartime BOAC.I have made one ,I like flying boats ,and it’s quite big for a small scale model. Availability may a bit tricky.

Seem to remember it being in their 2006 catalogue, but have never seen it for sale anywhere.

I think the Airfix kit was re-released by Minicraft (or at least Minicraft also has a 1/144 Boeing Clipper), so you might check around for that.

Here’s a link to the Minicraft Boeing Clipper.

thanks guys,i ordered one this morning from Al,at oldmodelkits.com…19.00

now to see if meteor has decals

The Minicraft Boeing 314 is the Airfix kit re-boxed with better decals and different finish options. The Airfix kit dates from the mid-1960s, but is still a very nice kit:

OTOH, if you just want one to build, both my LHSs have a couple, at least, of the ‘limited’ re-issue that took place just before Airfix went bust, at the UK RRP of GBP9.99.

Cheers,

Chris.
