Yak-36 Freehand

Here’s a picture showing the start of the proceedings with Anigrand’s 1/72 Yakovlev Yak-36 VTOL test aircraft.

I have bought quite a few Anigrand kits lately (and VERY eagerly awaiting two of their Valkyrie kits!) but it’s my first attempt at building one.

The resin is nice, with very few bubbles. The engaved panel lines were a bit deep, and I’m in the process of partially filling them in with Milliput. The large air intake at the front needs much work (unless a cover is scratched) in order to re-create two air inlets - the kit has a splitting fence but that’s it -. This work is involving more Milliput… Next big work will be the detailling of the cockpit area and the various wells on the underside of the fuselage. There’s not much info on that, but the kit is very bare there!

This is a surprisingly large kit, about twice as wide as a MiG-21, in terms of fuselage width. Anigrand’s boxes are tiny, to the point when once the parts are out, one wonders how they ever got in there!

Hopefully, more on this soon.

Sounds interesting, but your picture did not come through…

there you go.

So far it looks great! be sure and keep us posted on your progress. Thanks for sharing
