Yak 1 - FINISHED PICS

Took a break from a biplane disaster with this Accurate Miniatures 1/48 Yak 1, markings are for Yellow 44. Paint colors and scheme based on data at VVS site. Getting the colors right took some work, but they turned out well. Free hand airbrushed with very light weathering to match photos. Great kit, these AM kits are most enjoyable.

Nice finish. The only Yak I ever remember building was back in the 70s - cant remember if it was by Frog or Airfix. I do remember it was a very simple kit with next to no parts.

A very nice clean build on your Yak! Are those the kit markings for Lilya Latyavik (sp?)? What colors did you use for the finish?

Ilove those AM kits. I have built two so far and love their kits!

Nice work on the Yak. Camo looks spot on. Nice clean build.

On the wing, near to the fuel gauges theres 2 raised dimples. 1 each side. These had a red indicator on them to tell the pilot that the U/C was down. This would be a cool addition to your build and an easy addon.

Nicely done! Sorry to hear about the Nieuport disaster, hopefully you’ll be able to repair them both.

Thanks for looking all. Yes that is Lilya Litvyak (sp)'s aircraft as flown around Stalingrad. The colors are Gunze interior green for the lighter color (it is almost a dead on match for the “right” color per vvs) and the darker is MM dark green lightened 20% with flat white. All acrylics and finished off with a semi gloss acryl clear coat. Thanks for info on the red indicators, they will be painted shortly. Was wondering about those but could not tell anything from the b/w pictures I saw.

Very nicely done! The paint job is superb! The build itself looks pretty clean, no real glaring errors that I can pick out. What was the site you used to get the VVS information?

Nice work on the original Yak! Your colors are spot on. Clean build, nice work on the seams

Very nice build [tup]. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Lovely work. Photography included…

Nice job…[:D]

The site is http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/

Really good soviet reference material there, especially for paints which is always an adventure for those aircraft.

Again thanks for the positive feedback. Forgot to note that the only addition I made was cutting out and dropping the flaps, but as they are on the belly you can’t really see them in pictures.
