Very cool,anybody know what scale the studio model was?I remember reading an article on I.L.M. and it stated they used Legs’ panty hose eggs for the caps on the engine pylons.I have the George Lucas book with the models and props from Star Wars and Indiana Jones and it tells the length and width,but I’m too lazy to dig it out of storage,as I am almost sure it is near the bottom of a stack of hardcover books! great job on the blueprints.

I’ll make some cross sections for the cockpit this weekend. I should probably add a view of the bottom as well.

I have the dimensions of the studio model in cm’s at home, but I won’t be home until this weekend. I’ll post those dimensions of noone beats me too it.

Shrugger, I would be more than happy to scale a set to 1/24. I’ll be able to do it this weekend.

I’m going to go with 1/72 myslef. I just dont have time for anything bigger.

on another note, I have built 3D models of a Lambda class shuttle and Tie Fighter. I’d like to have a model of a shuttle with a 2 tie escort ala the opening scene of episode 6. That will be the next project on the bench after this…time willing.

Rick, I have the Tydirian and Tie models built in Rhino but have to make2d on it. Rhino has a feature that makes 2d drawings from a model, but it is not perfect. The gaps in the lines of the Y-Wing drawings are an example.

If any of you guys are using Rhino, I will gladly give you a copy of the model which would be much more helpful than 2d drawings. It would be nice if in confidence, you didn’t redistibute the model without giving me credit, but in this arena that is impossible to insure. Mainly, I would be pissed if you found a way to make money from selling my model, but other than that, I just want you guys to make great models.

I won’t make .3ds copies of the files if anyone is wondering. Sorry.

built a y-wing in the late 70’s for a model rocket contest. came in 2nd even tho it crashed as the parachute didn’t deploy
