XP47-H

Finished this model Sunday, and today was decent weather (I take all model pictures outside in sunlight, so I got a couple of pictures to post. The conversion is from KAE, consisting of vacuform fuselage and resin propeller. Donor kit was the Revell 1:48 P47N. Since the later had squared tips I needed to graft new tips to wing. Model isn’t great, reminds me of RC days with “standoff scale”. But from a few feet away it doesn’t look too bad.

This is the Mopar Thunderbolt (experimental version with Chrysler hyper engine) featured in Chrysler ads about a year ago.

that looks nice right out of the factory

You put a lot of scratch building into this kit and it shows. Absolutely fantastic!

I can’t decide if the plane is pretty or ugly, but I want one. You did a really nice job Don. gk

Kinda looks like a pregnant P-51. Sweet build!

Nice! I’ve always been a fan of prototypes and experimentals.

Hey, Don, that plane got a Hemi in it!

I really like how this turned out. You did a very good job! Thanks for sharing!

Great work Don,really nice to see off the beaten path subjects! Its also a far better scale than those old Midwest RC kits. Very nicely done Sir!

Very cool Don, always loved the looks of the oddball jugs!

Very nice build and finish.

Mike

If I remember correctly, that was Chrysler’s very first hemi-spherical combustion chamber design for an engine.

You did a great job, Don! I didn’t realize there was a kit out there for this, conversion or otherwise.
