Before I begin a long quest to see if there are any XP-38 kits out there or conversion sets, I was curious if any of you guru’s were aware of anything available out there to build an XP-38. I love the look and sleak lines of the original prototype and wouldn’t mind adding one to my “squadron”.
Scott.
I seem to remember that Olimp has an XP-38 kit, I know they have the XP-58, just a thought…

I found a kit for the XP-58 made by the same manufacturer. I’ll have to keep looking for the XP-38. [sigh]
You might find this interesting
Ya a couple of those were really radical designs. Notice the ones with the very narrow appendages for the propellors? If I remember correctly, the engines were to be housed in the fuselage. Kelly Johnson was really creative, especially for the times.
He was quite a visionary that’s for sure. The one design looks strikingly similar to the F-82 (?) Mustang but with only one cockpit.
Yeah it does. I think it’s funny that the P-38 is the most normal one of the bunch! It would have been cool to see the “push me pull you” design. I love the Do-335. Espins, if you can’t find any decent kits of the XP-38 (and by decent i mean any at all) You could perhaps dabble into the wonderful world of resin casting. Just a thought[:D] (If you do I get the second set as a gift for the idea). Have you picked up the squadron books for the P-38? there’s a ton of information in those. also, if you do find a kit but it really isn’t the best, you could probably graft the nose portion of the nacelle on an early P-38. Just a thought…
Anyone know anything about this kit?
Can’t tell you too much about the kit, but I have been more than happy with Modelimex. Their service is outstanding and friendly!
