Hi there!
For years I´ve been thinking about building an X-15 in 1/72(I know there is a lot of you guys who love it big, but that is the scale I use and I love it). I want to build two X-15:s; one on it´s landing gears, and one hanging from a B-52(also in 1/72 of course).
Can you help me with tips of kits and/or convertion kits etc.
keep up the good work!

Gilmund, Monogram did a really nice X-15 in 1/72. They did it solo as well as part of their B-52 with X-15 kit. You can find it on Ebay I’m sure.
Heller also released the Monogram Kit under their brand name a few years ago and this may still be available… especially in Europe.
I do hope this helps you
Thanks for the tip, butchy
A couple of more questions:
Let´s pretend for a while that I don´t get a hold of the combo pak.
I found on the internet that there´s vacum formed adapters for B-52 made by Airmodel (#AM-116) and Frank-Modellbau (#FM-16). Does anyone know how to get them?
I´t says that they are for a X-15, but the monogram kit (5908) is a X-15A-2. Is this a problem?
Finaly, regarding the B-52(if I go for the separate kits solution), is there a special verision that flew the X-15? Are there any good kits?
Lots of questions, but hey, what are we here for!
No special version of the X-15. The mother ship, on the other hand…
They all were dropped from NASA’s NB-52B aircraft for all 199 flights if I’m not mistaken. This bomber had a large cutout on the inboard flaps to handle the tail of the X-15, and it also had special mountings for cameras, as well as a couple of “blister” windows for photography and observation of the drop. I never got the Monogram version of their B-52D modified to NASA’s NB-52B planes, though I wish I had, but I doubt they made all the changes necessary to make it completely accurate. But, it’s a starting place, and there are a number of good references on the X-15 program. It has always been on my list of ten favorite a/c.
