WWII Willy's Jeep

I’m planning my next build and am thinking about a Jeep. Can anybody recommend a good kit? I want something that I can get a nice accessory set for.

Thanks,

Sawdustbob

The Tamiya kit is your best option. Any Voyager, Aber or Eduard set for it should be pretty good, but I dont know how much detail you’re looking to add. I’d probably say go with the Eduard detail set, though.

Thanks,

I’m going to get my son to help me set up a web site so I can post in progress photos of my builds.

Isn’t that what this site is for? Post them here!

AFV Club makes a nice little M38A1. I haven’t built mine yet but am looking forward to it. The parts look nice anyway.[:D]

I think he means a site to host the photos so we can see them here.

They do, but that is a post-WWI Willys jeep. The M38A1 was not fielded until 1952.

I second the Tamiya Willys MB model. Make sure it is the new one though (kit #35219), their old one was so-so. I just completed my secomd one and I love the little kit. It looks great out of the box and can be even better with a few PE pieces.

Good luck.

Payday is coming so I think I’ll order the Tamiya kit. As for the pics, I’m not really sure how to post pics. My son does it with his art so I think he will be able to help.

The trusty old Italeri WWII kit (in several guises) is well… trusty and old but for me, it’s still a favorite and can be had on the cheap.

Of many years ago…

With more in the stash.

If you have a Hobby Lobby nearby, the Tamiya kit is one of their staples. There, the kit is under $20 and they often have the weekly 40% off coupon online or in the Sunday paper. The majority of aftermarket accessories are for either the Tamiya kit of the older Italeri kit, so make sure you check out to see what accessory is right for the kit you get.
