I was driving by and spotted this sitting in the lot of an auto body shop. The guys were kind enough to let me take a few quick pics. Sadly, I couldn’t get any decent interior shots and I didn’t want to ask them to let me climb inside. Regardless, I still think it’s a very cool vehicle.
Now! That’s a cool looking vehicle. I would even build a model of that!
Saw one several years ago in eastern Oregon with for sale sign. Couldn’t stop, was on a govt group field trip. Next time I got over there it was gone.
I would have built the inside as a camper for elk hunting. Sadly those days are well past now.
As for a model, I think Roden came out with one in ,1/35 a couple years ago. But could be wrong.

Looks like the seats in the cab have been replaced with something more comfortable and civilian. I remember meeting a guy many years ago who owned a restored one of these. I wonder if he still owns it and drives it.
Without a doubt! I knew those couldn’t be the same seats from the 1940’s. Sometimes you have to sacrifice accuracy for comfort!
I like the way the decals conform to the raised detail,I think it would look more realistic with a little more chipping and weathering. Thanks for posting

That Dodge sure is cool - and I read the later KD (knock down) ambulaces were seen as a step back, beacuse the “box” the KDs had in the back had a tendency to leak unlike the steel body of this one.
When making a model of an ambulance it’s good to do some more research, because the markings can be tricky. For example the TB I have on painting and marking Army vehicles
(http://www.vietnam.net.pl/TB746_en.htm) states “The National Symbol will not be applied to Medical Service vehicles” so that would make the example above violate the orders. And of course the registration number on the hood is off - trying to say something meaningful.

It looks like a nice restoration. Personally, I hate the modern seats. I would have tried to remain faithful to the original look, while adding a lot more cush for the tush. Still, nice to see a vintage Army vehicle still on the road. Good modeling subject. Thank you for the cool pictures!
Those are definitely not the stock seats! 
Agreed. The black grill, bumper, running board, rear bumperettes, and I assume the whole frame should not be black either. The whole WC-54 was painted OD green, in, out, under, everywhere. The back might have been white on the inside, but everything else was OD green.
By the way, Zvezda recently released a much more up to date version that is all new and not related to the old Pearless/Bilek/Testors kit.
