WWII BATTLEFIELD MUSEUMS AND PLACES TO VISIT

Hello everyone, I am here in Afghanistan and have a vacation coming up this summer and I would like to visit some of the famous battlefields in France and Belgium. I am planning a trip to both Normandy and Bastogne. Having never been there before, can anyone recommend any specific museums or sights to go and see.

As our access to internet is limited up here, I would like to thank you for any help that is provided in advance.

Thanks

I haven’t been to either Normandy or Bastogne, but not too far away is the museum at Oosterbek Holland; just outside of Arnhem. The museum is in the old Hartenstein hotel. It’s very interesting and has a fairly large collection. When I was there they didn’t allow guests to take photos of the exhibits, but they did sell post cards of the most popular exhibits. The Polish airborne cemetery is a short walk away and is very beautiful in the summer. You’ll find the Dutch people to be very friendly and the food is good. Hope you have a great time.

Just outside the city of Verdun, France is the WWI fortress museum, and along the German/France border there are some of the Magnoit (spell?) Forts left from WWII.

I just got back from a long trip away from the internet and would just like to say thanks for the suggestions.
