WW2 Russian bombers underrepresented

I really want to build a Russian bomber, but there are no decent kits available. The Il-4, which is about the size of a Mitchell or Liberator, is only manufatured in semi-decent 1/72nd scale kits, and I want to build one in 1/48th. The Pe-2 is The size of a Bf-110, and it only comes in a lee thanmediocre 1/72nd kit and a terrible 1/48th kit. The Pe-8, Russia’s biggest bomber of the war, measures -EDIT: slightly larger- than the B-17, yet the only kit available is in 1/72nd, with serious flaws (fuselage is an inch too short.) In fact, the kit is now out of production and very hard to find.

Does anybody feel the way I do?

Don’t know anything about the Russian Bombers of any era other than the Russian copy of the B-29 and the Bear. But if you say so I support your frustration. Seams to me that someone out there should do something. Keep patient at the end of the day someone will do them justice. Start writng to manufacturers maybe the will listen. Know any websites I can check out to learn about these bombers. Let me know and Good Luck.

Ok, they dont have real photos, but they are informational:

I fell your frustration as well. I always liked russian equipment but the major manufacturers don’t really give them much attention. Most of the fighters out are also full of flaws. Oh well, maybe someday.

Well me too I really wish they would pay just a little bit more attention to Russian bombers and all of their aircraft. I don’t think they make enouth Russian aircraft. I really do wish that there would come out some really decent kits in the future. Lets hope.

To everyone who agrees with me- email major kit makers and ask them to make these. PLEASE do this or nothing will ever happen.

Whats Monograms email address? Ive been wanting to send them an email about a Pe-8 and a B-32 in 1/48 scale. Ill send one to other manufacturers too but I just always figured since Monogram did 4 engined bombers and were fairly cheap they would be a good one to consider.

Well, I have email Accurate Miniatures, Hasegawa, and Tamiya about this. I also gave them links to this thread.

Its out there. What about MPM company, its there fore a Pe-2/3…Its company Zlinik from Czech. They’ve got 1/72 Pe-2 and 3 and a little bit EP too. You can get it from guess who…Squadron.

Part of the problem here is that the Russians didn’t use bombers a lot during WWII–fighters and Sturmoviks, yes, bombers not much. The Soviet command tended to view the primary role of the air force as support for their army. There wasn’t a lot of call for strategic bombing on their front anyway; the Americans and British were taking care of pounding the German homeland.
