WW 2 Tiger 1 early.

As some of you may know, I posted a comment on here about 6 months ago.
The post was concerning my grandfather who was a TIger tank commander during WW 2.

After talking with Tigerman and looking through some old photos, I tried to re create his actual tank.

It is a Tamiya Tiger 1 early. photo was taken by my daughter and enhanced for lighting. It took me about 6 months and a lot of old photos.

I am not sure which one of these links will show the actual photo but here it is.

You done very well my friend. Weathering is just awesome. One thing, we need more pics!

Nice…It is a fitting tribute to your grandad.

Steve

that looks computer generated! reall it does! VERY VERY nice work.

Awesome.Definately need more pics.Of the model and the real one.

That’s what I first thought too Tanky. His daughter is a photographer in her H.S. She uses a 35mm Canon under ideal lighting conditions. Fabulously done. Hope he can get more. Jim is now working on a 1/35 Academy Mid-Pro with interior. He used pastels on his Early.

Great job!

One thing I would like to add, I may be mistaken, but isn’t that the British army unit insignia that was painted on the captured Tiger that is now at Bovington? I know Tamiya includes that decal in thier early Tiger kits . so as to represent that Tiger. You’re Grandfather may not appreciate that!

Steve

I would love to see some pic’s of your grandfathers Tiger. If you can post some for all of us.

[:D] great work,very nicely done,your grandfather would be proud.[:D]

Great model and amazing photo.

I like it!!!

Working on one as we speak/write.

Tiger I rules … nice tiger …

Looks fantastic!

Great job on the tiger. Like everyone else has mentioned, more pics of the build and the original one your grandfather commanded. Bryan

Ouch, that one pic just isn’t enough. It looks like it was weathered and finished very well. Post some more pics please.

Sorry guys this is the only photo of the Tiger I have, in part the thanks goes to my daughter Kirsten. She took the photo at the H.S. as a project.

As for grand dads I will see what I can pull up. Some of the pictures are so old that I have yet to try and scan them.

thats awesome and some great dedication to your family…i am doing the same with my dad, who served in vietnam aboard PBR’s…im building a pbr mk 1 in dedication to his squad.
