I had a h*lluva time trying to get some acrylic paint to spray, nearly ruined a model and barely managed to save it, and now my A/B has a hooked needle tip. I could scream!!![:(!] Plus, this model has to be done in time for a competition, and I can’t afford any delays. Ughh. I had to vent, sorry.
Bummer [:(] When I bent one of my AB needles I tried to fix it but it never was the same. I just got a new one.
how hooked Tanky??? some of them you can straighten with your fingernail… most not tho…
That’s why I keep 2 extra needles around… just in case! at $5 apiece I can’t afford not to!
You can try to file/sand the hook of and polish the needle. I’ve done this and it worked for overall painting, not detail stuff, until I could get a spare. I learned my lesson and now keep a spare…
If you get a hook in the needle, hold it at angle against a hard surface (like you were using it as a pen, only with a shallower angle) and roll it, applying pressure as you go.
That will generally get straighten it out enough to use.
What competion are you heading to?? It wouldn’t happen to be MosquitoCon, would it??
I’ll be there taking photos for the magazine, so stop over and say hi.
Jeff
jeff, I’m heading for noreastcon in may. And my project is a bit far from completion. I have another needle ordered from dixieart already. Should get here thursday or wednesday, I hope. Until then I can work on some other parts of it, like the landing gear and missiles. Won’t set me back TOO much.
