Working with Resin?

Hi All,

As a modeller who has recently returned to the hobby after a break of twenty years plus, I am ignorant in some areas!! Last time I modelled you had a choice of plastic, plastic or erm plastic!!

I have purchased a small range of Resin Figures from Czechmaster, and what wonderful detail I must say. However I am left with a query, all the arms, legs and Heads are separate for ease of painting, what do you use to fix them together ?

Some one help please,

Gap filling superglue and accelerator are my choices. Very much like working with white metal figures.

I prefer 5 minute Epoxy for assembing figures, but CA works well also. Conventional glues designed for styrene wont work.

Regards, Rick

I use CA clues mostly, but when I want a bit of time to move the part around, I use some white glue. It’s not as strong as CA, but it’ll hold strong enough for most modelling purposes.

I’m with the others, CA and an accelorator, like Zap products works well.

Remember that while CA’s (super glue) hold well, they have very little ‘sheer’ strength.
Meaning if you pull on a CA bond, it will usually be ok, but if you pull ACROSS a CA bond, good chance it will seperate.
This usually happens during the accidental ‘bump’ or ‘nudge’

To solve this problem, anything that may appear to get damaged after gluing has a brace installed.
I drill a small hole in the items to be bonded, and insert a piece of stiff wire.
May sound like alot of effort, but I prefer to do something once, rather than twice.

Thanks guys, once again you all prove what a great place this forum is, never failing to give good advice,

Thanks again
