Yea, I know this may not be the right spot. Anyway As you all may remember, I bought a new work bench awhile back. Then Bev(my wife) got real sick and I dropped out for awhile to take care of her. Well she`s doing fantastic, and the weather was warmer(about 58) so I finnaly finished the bench. Thats a Trump 1/32 F105 there for size. Its not in its final resting spot yet, but getting closer. AND if things keep up, I may get to start back on my builds…YEA…Thanks for putting up with my shpeal…Harv Ohyea, the stool came free w/bench
I have something simular and mostly like it. I like the pegboard and drawers. It’s easy to hide things away and keep organized. What I don’t like is I find it a little high and awkward to sit at because your legs don’t go under it very well like they would at a desk.
Max, I do agree with you on that point. But I guess Ill just have to tough it out. Really, I think itll work out ok. I`m keeping my other bench for(hopefully) a spray both later on…Harv
Harv - I am Very Happy to hear things Have turned to the Better. You couldnt ask for anything better for the Holiday Season.
That is one fine looking Bench and chair, glad to see you got it assembled. I was beginning to think that your bench was going to be your next entry in the NME~GB [(-D] Now get back to building [tup]
Glad to hear that your wife is doing well Harv! Also nice to see that bench all ready for some building. Seems to me you have a Corsair hiding somewhere too! [;)]
Why thank you, Frank. Good to hear from you. Corsair? Did some one say Corsair? I vaguely remember something about them …Oh yea, now I remember…Its right were I left it Frank. And yes ,I hope to get back to it soon!..Harv
Happy the wife is better, Harv! No more important reason for a building hiatus.[tup]
Sweet set-up you have going there! I too prefer to have knees under the bench, but even that doesn’t keep the carpet/concrete monster from sucking up parts![(-D]
You know? Someone here…maybe The Hannaman?…wears a shop apron at the bench and attaches the bottom of it to the benchtop with velcro, I think. It forms a basket in his lap that catches most of his errant parts!
Yes, I use the old jeweler’s apron and velcro trick. Just remember to detach it completely prior to jumping up to get the phone! That one will make you lose ALL your pieces…[#wstupid]
I agree with Hawkeye–a good durable cover is a smart idea. I’ve worked at plant nurseries for many years and the large advertising posters for bare-root rose bushes or mulches make great workbench covers. These posters are usually blank white on one side; simply place it face down on the workbench with the white side up. They can easily be cut to fit, too. By using a piece of clear acrylic as a cutting board when I use the knife, my workbench cover has lasted for about three years and it’s still in great condition save a few paint stains. (But hey, those paint stains add character to a modeling workbench.) One caution on choosing a poster from the nursery: get the ones that are textured; smooth plastic ones might offer too much reflected glare.
Jim & Darren, thanks. Yes a cover does make good sense. Once all in its permanet place, These kind of things will be worked out. Funny you should mention acrylic stuff, I just picked up a 5x6x3/8 piece from wally world in the crafts dept. I`ll try that for cutting my PE stuff on. I tried a small cutting board, but its too soft…Harv
Yeah nice looking work bench there dirtball [tup] looks like she’ll last for years. For me I prefer some thing that I can put my long legs under. The one I have is just a table, but theres lots of room for my legs [:)] . I’ll get a picture of it later.
