l’m sure she really had to twist your arm hard to make you go back and buy more kits ![]()
wow!!! that is a good deal… we need some good deals around here… everything is pretty much MFRP unless it’s at Hobby Lobby and their selection isn’t that good… the LHS just has models as a courtesy I think, it’s all about R/C there… lot’s of models… just no sale prices…
well actually it was a little bit of a struggle to go in and get it… I’ve watched that model go from 120, to 80 to 60 and now 40 bucks… all in a months time! I was trying to ride it out to see if it went to 20… there’s 2 more there so I may keep checking and if they go to 20 I’ll get the 2 last ones there… that’d look right nice hanging from the ceiling… a whole wing of 1/24 Spitfires in V formation… banking down for a turn…
“Doc” (tho9900),
Is that the Revell/Monogram 1/48 AV-8B on left side right below the Spit?[:D] Is it the one with the Operation Iraqi Freedom booklet? If so, I’d like to know if the cockpit has been redesigned to be an appropriate Night Attack Harrier. The decals on the box show for VMA-211 and VMA-311 if I remember correctly. The cockpit should have two MPCDs vice one on the older Day Attack Harrier. Should also have four additional chaff/flare buckets on the dorsal near the vertical stab and a larger LEX at the wing root. Thanks![:)]

Hey Carl… no they didn’t redo the cockpit… was gonna go out and search for resin… and yeah those are the decals… was gonna look for VMA-231 as they were out with us my last deployment (6 of their 8B’s on the Saipan and 4 sent to the USS Guam which I was on at the time) basically building it as a start back into jets… My last jet I built in like 1986 (A-6 Prowler) since I got back into modelling this year I have stuck to WWII AC and haven’t messed with jets… Is there a better AV-8B kit out there?
I noticed in the pics posted on the AC forum that there were 2 MPCD’s on the 8B… that’s when I researched a few more things and decided to build as is and do another one later… I’ll give this one to my niece… she’s 18 months and won’t know the diff haha…

Tom,
Thanks for the update. If you’re building a straight Day Attack, that kit isn’t too bad. I heard the Hasegawa kits are pretty decent (they make both a Radar and Night Attack Harriers). I bought a AMRAAM resin conversion a while back from TwoBobs for my Revell AV-8B but I haven’t been able to find the AMRAAM update since. Lucky I got it when I did. TwoBobs and I believe SuperScale makes Harrier decals for pretty much every Harrier squadron, both East and West Coast. VMA-231 (Ace of Spades) are on there. If you find them, get them because they’re going like hot cakes.
The picture of the Harrier cockpit in the previous string is a very good reference to have.

OMG!!! Can’t get the tears to stop flowing from my eyes. Dan. Had the “EMPRESS” sitting right over my shoulder when we pulled up your thread. It had us written all over it. Then we procede to read some of the guys remarks and here comes “OldHooker” mounted like a trophy catch of the day. We both just about died laughing. Then “John P” posts that picture of his hideout in the basement and my bride of some 37years realized she may have to put a contract out on me someday soon. Thanks guys you’re all just to much. semper fi, mike
my mother went ballistic when i got home half an hour late from school cos i went to get a bottle of primer… i cant wait to get married. NOT!
Does she have a single sister?
Women can get so dang mad because men can make them so dang mad.
Of course, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that.
oldhooker, I was eating a cheese sandwich when I saw your message, and I laughed so hard the entire thing passed through my nostrils in a weird Playdoh-like effect. I’m not going to eat it, obviously, so I’m trying to figure out if it has any diorama usages.
larry, im sure there are easier ways to making cheese strings than via the nasal cavity [;)]
Mmmm… I think I can discern 2 Fiat Cr.32 in there…??! Wanna trade one against a 1/48 Shinden…??!
Yeah, [:D] after the explanation, I would lay the spreadsheet on the table and say; “Now what do you think about that?”, at which time, she would lean slightly toward me and say; "Oh, I understand… now do you understand the numbers “Zero 69?” [:o]
Take care,
Frank [;)]
