Wolf's Picture of the Day - 30 March 2005

Something a little different here…

Every once in a while I play around a bit with some screenshots from a game or two. This screen is from IL-2 Forgotten Battes. I was in the Brewster and had just administered some rude treatment to the poor virtual blokes in the IL-4…

Fade to Black…

Nice shootin’ Tex, it takes a brave man to pilot a Brewster Buffalo

Very cool pic as usual. I seem to recall you showed us a pic of a flight of Buffalos in those same markings awhlie ago too, nice to see its used in a game.

The skies the limit,

Yeah, it is cool to see something resembling historically accurate colors and markings in a game. IL-2 isn’t there yet, but they’re not too awful. There’s alotta folks skinning for MP (multiplayer) but I’d like to try and incorporate some historically accurate skins into the SP game… I’m not sure if it can be done, though.

Anyhoo, here’s another shot from that same sortie… having a bit of fun after I had wiped the sky clean of Red Stars…

Fade to Black…

Amazing how realistic computer games have become. I remember being awed by Pong on the Atari.

Great pics BW… I know exactly what you mean… I do the same on IL-2… don’t have forgotten battles yet. Is it good?

Yeah Adam, Forgotten Battles is pretty groovy with some new aircraft types to fly and fight. There are a few new features like complex engine management for multi-engine types and stuff like that, but otherwise it’s pretty much the same.

I kinda like trying to tear up a formation of B-17s with the cannon that the Me 262A-1a/U4 is packin’ but it’s tougher than some may think. Unless you turn off the realistic gunnery… then it’s a breeze. But what’s the fun in that? [:p]
