Yeah, I know… another F-14…
As many of you know, my thing is WWII aircraft. But with the Tomcat in its twilight I’ve temporarily converted back to my previous NAVAIR fanatacism, and I said it before but I’ll say it again…you’re gonna see LOTSA Turkeys in the coming weeks…
Anyhoo, this is the same Tomcat featured in a POTD from several days back. Matter of fact this photo was taken during the same demo put on for the crew of the Harry Truman…

Fade to Black…
Great shot as always Steve. Thanx for posting. Bryan
Another great pic for sure. Thanks for the post.
Regards, Rick
Hate to see the old girl go, remember when I saw them when they were new
Can anyone believe that it’s been 19 plus years since “that movie” was made, in which the F-14 was the star, but a cocky movie-star named Cruise got top billing?
Love the flying footage, hate the movie. And absolutely love the Tomcat. It has officially taken over as my all time favorite plane, which was previously the F-4.
Thanks for yet another wonderful photo blackwolf!!
Great lookin pic, BW. Really shows the power of the Turkey!
Cheers,
John
Great shot of a “Swordsman”!
“That movie” was almost enough to dissuade me from enlisting in the Navy… same feelings… hated the surrounding plot… loved the aircraft. Saw a Tomcat in an airshow at Andrews AF base in the 80’s and it took the show… seeing it sweep around those tight turns with wings extended then shoot ahead with them nestled to her side was enough to get the old ticker to racing!
By the time I hit the fleet they were still in use along with sqaudrons od F/A-18’s, we got out own airshows there, except the other aircraft wasn’t from an agressor squadron… they were the real MIG’s… THAT was a sight!!! Some pretty intense dogfighting and jockying for position on “Ivan’s doorstep” up in the Aegean/Black Sea region…
where the heck did you get that
