Wolfman Model: Question on appling a glossy coat

I recently purchased a completed vintage wolfman painted model. Its in pretty good shape but the finish is a bit dull. No knowing what type of paint was used on it, I’d like to apply some clear gloss or semi clear gloss to make the model stand out. What type of gloss do you think I should apply? I have some acrylic semi gloss in my shop, would that work? or should I be using something else? Or so you have any other suggestions to help me make this puppy shine?

if you are going for a true gloss then Future will do the trick, a few light coats will do it… (Future floor polish) If you are shotting for a semi gloss coat then Testors will wortk but the Model Master (MM) brand of overcoats works even better than a rattle can… (assuming you are using an airbrush)

If I go for the future do I need to use my airbrush?

Nope, you can brush Future on, just be careful not to get it too thick. It brushes well and easily, though I prefer an airbrush.

Normally I would suggest an air brush, but since your wolfman model probably doesn’t have wide, flat areas that need to be perfectly smooth, I don’t think it much matters in this case. Thinking about it, I half wonder if you might be able to even achiev some slightly better effects on the ur with a paint brush, highlighting rather than applying an overall gloss?
