What method do you guys use for making ariel wires for your planes? I’m finishing up my p-61 and i’m trying to superglue stretched sprue, but it isn’t working at all and it’s really beginning to chap my a$$! please assist! thanks!
Go to your local fabric supply store and get some invisible thread - it comes in several thicknesses. Also get a permanent black marker. Draw some of the thread across the marker and superglue it in place.
Thanks Swanny, I can always count on you!
Hope you post some pics of your widow soon, cant wait to see it

I also use invisible thread. I found a spool of ‘black invisible’ thread ay Wallyworld. After you unroll it, it is just a little darker. Works fine for me. When I tried stretched sprue I found the it did not get along with accelerator. Buy one spool of thread and you’re set for a while.

2lb test fishing line works pretty good too…
Please send pictures of your P-61…I bought the Revell P-61 yesterday when I was in town at Micheals for $16.00, It’s 1:48th in scale…I’ve got to pick up some Zinc Chromate for the interior and wheel wells…I picked up some “Testers Stainless Steel Buffing Metalizer” but didn’t write it down so I forgot the Zinc chromate…
"First goes the eye’s, then the memory.“Picked up my new glasses day before yesterday!”…
I read in the Armor section that using Testers buffing metalizer shines up as good if not better than Alcad II! Cheeper too! Just paint acrylic flat black under coat, put on a shot of Future and after its all dry & shinny, shoot it with the Stainless Steel and when thats dry, rubb it with a cotton cloth and you’ve got shinning gages or what ever you’ve used it on that looks as good as chrome…So I’m going to give it a try…
I haven’t seen a 1:1 BlackWidow since My Dad was a Civilian Mechanic in the second world war at Chino Airport here in Calif. It was called the “Calairo Airport” then, he took me to work with him when I was 4 and let me sit in one he was doing a Test Pre flight on, that had just came in…His best friend Flloyd was sitting in the pilots seat three days later and asked my Dad: Whats this red handle next the the seat for? As my Dad said :It’s Red! Don’t touch it! He pulled it, it was the ejection seat and it shot him up into the top of the hanger, killing him instantly…He fell and hit the floor about 10 feet from my Dad…Sad huh? My Dad said he never knew what hit him… I think they had a 20mm cannon like thing as a ejection seat for them because the Black Widow and P-38 would pan cake and the flyers couldn’t get away from the plane when it was going down, they could’n’t bail out…So they put in ejection seats!..Long time ago I was only 4, but remember my Dad taking me, I use to have a picture my Dad took of me in it (the P-61)with a box Browine camera, but its long gone…My Dad died in Oklahoma in 1979, so I don’t know where it would be, maybe got thrown out after he died…I’ve lived in Calif all my life, Did’nt see much of him after I was around 8yrs old…“RC”…[C):-)]
