Wirblewind

[:)]

This is my first build after a 60yr lay off. It’s Tamiya 1/35 OOB. I built it about 18 months ago before I knew of this forum, the model is “clean” and will remain so.
I use it as a “mark” to show I am improving(or perhaps not) when compereing against later models.
The kit went together quite well, the tracks age hardened after a few weeks and broke-up, I’ve replaced with Academy indy links.
Please look and give your comments!.

Well, it certainly is very colorful. You have obviously brush painted your model. One thing I would suggest in the future…It is highly unlikely that your Flak truppen (figures) would have the exact same color camoulflage clothing as the vehicle. Do some research on German uniforms. Properly painted figures can bring a lot to your presentation. I’m not sure but I think the tracks are reversed (backward). Maybe one of the Mk lV experts can tell us.

Start saving those dimes and nickles and get that airbrush set up. You will be so happy with the improvement in your modeling that you’ll be smiling until it hurts. Thanks for sharing your Vierling , and keep up the good work.

Regards,

Steve

Hello Steve, The tracks are correct to the instructions with the kit. Thanks for your usefull comments…Kenny

It’s cool to go back and revisit old projects and see how much we have grown as modellers! I think you’ve done a nice job on this build Ken, and without really knowing how much experience you’ve had prior to this build, and what sounds like a long layoff. I’d just add a couple of things to what has already been offered! You could drill out the barrels on your guns, that will add some realism, also, a light dry brushing of the tracks with a metallic finish would contribute to the overall look of some wear on the tracks. The hand painted camo is OK, but you might want to apply a wash over the camo, and decals in the future just to hightlight some of the detail, and to rid the paint job and decals of that shiney new look. These are suggestions that you might already be aware of, and incorporated into newer projects, and can understand why you might not want to go back, and do these things to an old build, but, I have many, that are on the shelf that will be getting a second going over as a result of what I’ve learned here at the forum in the past year. Thanks for sharing your work with us, and hope to see more recent projects. Semper Fi, Mike

Nicely done. It is always fun to have begining kits kept as they are, to show the progress of your skill. How did you paint the camouflage?

Brush on pastel chalks will also soften brush work-keep it up! Good job-this kit was one of first builds.

Dan

[:I]I paint with a brush, thats all I have. Thank you for taking a look…Kenny

Great build Mr. Ken.
I particually like the Wirbelwind.
Its always good to see modelers of all ages sharing one hobby.

[:D] nice build,i use a brush alot,i have an airbrush but im not usets to it yet, still i like your build, good work.[:D]

Hi spacepacker.ken,

I like the camo!

And yes, the tracks are correct. The widest part of each link makes contact with the ground first when moving forward!

Chris

Good job!

I like the camo, but it’s a bit stark, needs to be toned down a bit. That is where filter washes, pastels and drybrushing come in handy. Perhaps on the next project. Also it looks like you painted black or metallic paint over the wood on the tools. Hey, don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice build and we hope we improve with every build.

[:)]Hi, No the tools are painted a wood colour. It looks a bit brighter than it realy is, mainly because of the lighting.
[:I]Thanks to every one for your[:I] kind comments[:I][:I] I have learn’t a lot from this forum…Kenny
