[WIP] Tamiya 1:35 6x6 Cargo Truck

I am continung my adventure in learning techniques in painting, weathering, etc etc… So this isn’t perfect by any means! I still have to finish the oil drums and pallets I am scratchbuilding for the bed of the truck. I kind of screwed up the ‘dirty windshield’ effect so I might take some alcohol to them and try to restore them to normal.

Looks good from the photos you have, I can’t really see the windshield trouble your talking about however it might be a bkessing in disguise, if ya think about it if the window is really dirty then you have an option to A: fix it, or B: weather the rest of the rig to match the windshield. Remember vehicles move through thier enviroment not just over it. Crews in busy situatiions often didn’t have time to “clean” properly until thier mission was complete. Keep working, you have options. Happy modelling.[:D]

She looks good to me too. Everything straight and nothing misaligned. Only issue I see is a little silvering with the decals on the rear. You might try to cut those decals with a very sharp hobby knife along the gaps in the boards and make a few pin holes with a needle and then flood them with decal setting solution.

Overall some very nice work there!

Man, she looks good to me. I’d be proud to have it in my collection.

Will that still work even if I’ve put a gloss coat over it already? [:S]

Nice truck!

Hey that driver looks really happy! I would suggest getting some flat coat on him.

Ah maybe- I don’t know. If you slice the decal with a sharp knife the decal solution should be able to get to it.

If not don’t worry about it, it’s not that noticable.

Nice truck. And btw, our neighbors are from Poulsbo.

Can I make a suggestion? Only the upper oval lens on the left tail light was red. The others are black slits. Also, don’t forget your handles for your jerry cans

If I may add an idea, Tamiya Extra Thin cement may cure the silvering issue, but you will want to toss a matte coat over it all after you give the silvered decals a lick or two.

Testors liquid cement works okay too. Just give the decal a quick swipe and let it sit for a few minutes to dry. Repeat as needed.

Yes, it will get through your gloss cote, and sometimes the decals react weird. Just let the cement fully dry before you freak out.

I’ve done this many, many, many times. It will be okay. Just a swipe and let dry.

What a small world! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the tips everyone!
