WIP: Second Hellcat on the bench.

Soon to be finished my second Hellcat of the month, this one a night fighter that will be a worn and weary workhorse. It is the 1:48 Hasegawa kit, these kits seem to fall together with minimal effort.

She was primed with aluminum and the weathering was done by using a polishing stick to scuff and scratch the paint to let the nmf underneath show through, just like the real deal. Decals will be next and they too will be scuffed and scratched to show wear and fading.

The Hellcat is looking good so far. I really like your weathering technique.

Gerald,

Man, that looks killer! I’ve got Academy’s 1/72 HellCat on the bench. I’d be very interested to hear the details of your painting/weathering technique!

Great so far Gerald!..is it straight OOB? Enjoy your painting/weathering lessons!

Great weathering technique, love to see the details posted! [tup]

Wow, nice job! Will definitely follow this one with interest…couple hanging out in my stash. [:-^]

Can you be a bit more specific about your “aluminum primer”? Rattlecan, enamel, metalizer, etc?

Sweet! [tup]

I primed it with SnJ Spray Metal. Or if you’re a acrylics kind of guy…you could use my Talon acrylics.

Added some of the decals last night, once they’re cured hard I’ll pick at them a bit, scuff and scratch at them to weather them. The remaining stencils will get add too.

It’s gonna be painful to chip away at the naked dame! After that add the missing bits.

Surely the Crew Chief would have touched “her” up every now and then. [:-,]

Looks great. thanks for sharing.
