So far I have the turret together and a basic layout planned. The turret is from an old Tamiya Panther A kit and is built wikth no after market. I added three laminated pieces of styrene to the roof to portray the add on armor. I used thin styrene rod textured with a file to replicate weld beads. The base is 36" x 12" , May be a little large. I? would like to display the Pantherturm emplaced in a trench line.
By the way can someone please tell me what dimensions I need to make the armored steel box?

Ok I have found online prints for the Pantherturm. Only problem is they are 1/25 scale. what do I need to do to reduce them to 1/35 scale?
Multiply by 25 then divide by 35…
Well I spent a few hours last nite working on the armored steel box for the emplaced Panther turret. I found some plans for a 1/25 scale paper model of this online and after some trial and error, I was able to scale them down to 1/35 scale and used them to cut walls and a floor from sheets of .20" styrene. This is what I have so far. Still need to construct the upper part of the box.
Well I got the Panther emplacement finished last night. I finished construction of the lower armored box then constructed the upper box. I made the sides and top a little thicker on the upper as they appear to be so in photographs. All that is left is some puttying and sanding and then paint and it will be ready to build the dio around. I left the upper section removable in case I ever want to model an interior. Still unsure how I want to proceed with the dio. The idea was to portray a German defensive position, utilizing the Pantherturm, somewhere in Italy. Maybe around Monte Cassino or a mountain pass on the Gustav or Gothic Line
Havent posted anything here in a few days and just wanted to update everyone. Im still working to come up with a final layout. I am using pieces of florist foam to build up the ground. Waiting on my copy of German Defences in Italy to get here from Osprey. I am going to need some figures for this but want them to be in relaxed poses. Not depicting a battle scene but rather an emplacement that is manned and ready and waiting for the coming storm. Any ideas from my fellow modelers?
