WIP - Panther G Project ***Now Complete***

Hi all.

here’s the current project I’m working on. Still a long way go, but it’s getting there.
The base kit I’m using is Dragon’s Panther G with Steel Road wheels Smart kit.
The P/E set is from Voyager.

cheers,
Jurgen

Dang. That is one serious set of PE! [:O]

Nice work on it, too. [tup]

Aren’t the “smart” kits supposed to eliminate a lot of PE work…? [:-^]

Looks great man! …looking forward to seeing this done!

That’s a big chunk of heavy metal! incredible detail on that stuff.

marevic1,

Enough brass there to make a pair of knuckles! Nice and clean too!..I have a Tamiya Panther G Late on my shelf, I’ll be keeping an eye out for more of your progress photos…[tup]

What’s your painting scheme going to be?

Thanks guys.

SMJmodeler - I going for the 3 tone scheme with a disc pattern.
The R01 vehicle from the HG div.

Jurgen.

Nice !

Lots of PE stuff. Looks like you are going all the way “accurate” and full details.

Just dont forget to add the wire that connect to the headlight to the superstructure.

Ben

Looks great. Some fantastic P/E work.

Nice work on the PE. I see that you have dry fitted the cupola. You may already know about the fit up issue here with these “new” Panther kits. I’m talking about the inherent gap. There are some tutorials out there which show how to correct it. I simply enlarged the opening to settle the cupola down on my A build.

regards,

Steve

Thanks Gents.

Thanks for the tip Steve. Honestly wasn’t aware of that one.

Cheers,
Jurgen.

Hi all.
Thought I’d post a couple pics of the finished vehicle.
The paint scheme is from the HG Divisions R01, with it’s distinctive disc camo on the side skirts.
Hope you like it.

cheers,
Jurgen.

Love the paint job Jurgen. The subtle streaking looks just about right to me. It almost looks like you could climb aboard and drive away… [tup]

Thats one nice Panther you have there. I have seen the disk scheme on a StuG before but not a Panther.

Wow, man. Great finish! That disc scheme is very cool, and the weathering looks great. [tup][tup]

Figs in the last pic also get the thumbs up. [;)]

That is a beautiful piece of work there. Finish and weathering are great.

Beautiful panther!!!The paint job and weathering are awesome!!! How did you achieve the disc pattern camo? Again, a superb build.

Great job here. You’ve really captured those details and replicating the disc cammo is just awe inspiring. Just a nit pick, the star antenna should be recessed in the tub. This is the same error I made on my Befehls D model, and it was pointed out to me over on missing lynx. It is easily fixed …what a beautiful job congratulations. I really like the touch you made, showing the wear marks from the hull spare track block stowage and the rust stains…pretty cool, I might have to steal that from you on my next build!

regards,

Steve

This is a well documented vehicle, photographs of the distinct disc pattern on the skirts are clearly visible. Just google “Panther Tank” and you’ll run across the pics.

Very, VERY nice…what is that emblem on the hull front?

Many thanks for the comments guys!!

panzer88 - the disc pattern was drawn onto a piece of thick graphic tracing paper.
The outer edges were cut out, leaving the discs slightly touching each other.
I then painted the side skirts in the tri colour camo scheme. Once dry, I placed the
stencil over each side skirt and sprayed it dark yellow.

If you’re interested, I’ve blogged the build.

Manstein’s revenge - that’s the emblem for the Herman Goering Panzer Div.

Crockett - Cheers buddy. I honestly didn’t know that. Thanks for the heads up.

cheers,

Jurgen.
