Here’s some in-progress of my second diorama.I thought I would make it a Normandy scene where I have a Sherman going through a hedgerow…Then in front of the hedgerow I would have some foxholes with equipment and other stuff in it.Then I would have some Krauts running away in the distance. Also I would have some GI’s behind the Sherman.
If you have some suggestions, please give them.
Wow, it’s BIG!! The ground cover looks awesome, too![bow] The only other thing I can add is a hypothetical question: if this tank is going through an apparently defended/occupied hedgerow, wouldn’t that tanker be a bit foolhardy to be up & out of the turret like that without being on the MG, or at least having a pistol out and being a little lower in the hatch? And I would think that the driver would be “buttoned up” as well…I would think it doesn’t necessarily need it, but might reinforce your “story line” a bit…?[:)] BTW, what’d ya kitbash there? Do I see some DML gray under that Tamiya OD plastic?
I like the diorama and the setting, but the sherman looks a liitle too new. I’ve built that Sherman at 1:35 scale using weathering techniques found in FineScale Modeler for a Tiger I, see April/May 2001. The techniques were easy to follow and produced nice results.
WOw, really? The Tamiya 1/48 Sherman uses two different colors of plastic? (or is this a trick of the light?) That would be the first time I’ve ever seen them use that!
It’s kinda hard to weather it when you haven’t even painted it yet!
Ground cover is excellant, the only thing I see, and I’m sure you have plans, the open space is really large. Perhaps another german tank destroyer and something is planned?
Can’t wait to see this one done. Make sure you add some dirt around the fighting positions, after all, they were dug into the ground and the dirt had to go somewhere. I don’t know if you planned on this yet, but modify the suspension so it looks like its flexing as it goes over the embankment. Other than those two things, great model so far!
