Greetings one and all! Happy 4th of July weekend..
In short, I usually post my builds start to finish but this one is 2 1/2yrs in the making (on and off)
Here is the steps from being primed to the wash/panel wash stages.
Thank you for letting me share and Happy Modeling,
Mike
The camo was all free handed with am airbrush. I did an overall wash using Windsor Newtons burnt umber then used MiGs interior wash which is a brownish green color.. It looks more like faded OD with a touch of dirt over bare paint..
Living on the edge and loving it!
Thank you so much for the compliment, Steve! Trust me, doing that scheme freehanded was a PITA thanks to some of the curves on the fuselage!
Happy Modeling,
Mike
Thank you Chris, I definitely took my time that’s fer sure!
This particular jet came to VF-126 as Bort 24(nose no.) and at some point, was changed to Bort 27.
Gotta love the wear n tear of these aggressor birds!
Below is the aircraft that I’m modeling.
Thank you so much Edwin for the kind words, its truly appreciated!
I’m going to be representing this aircraft when she was changed to Bort 27(nose number).
When this A-4 arrived, it was originally Bort 24 but at some point, it was changed to 27. I am not to sure on the back story.
Anywho, I have a few reference pics of this jet and some of the demarcation lines look to be very tight(soft edged) or hard edge. So for a few of the demarcation lines, I used putty and the rest was free handed.
Butz, this was the USAirFix 1/72 A4 Skyhawk kit. I believe it was first released in 1979, but I think mine was newer. The decals were ‘like-new’, and went on as easily as any decal I’ve done in years. I don’t think 40 year-old decals would’ve been that easy to install!
