Heres a few wip shots of my latest dio called " Hitchin a ride" A band of airborne troopers on D-day are liberating a ride from a squad of Germans heading to the invasion front.

Just wondering… will you have more than 3 GIs in the dio? 4 against 3, seems those germans gave up kinda easy. Just an observation, not a critique.
Well, on second thought- are those germans from the Dragon Georgian legion kit? Weren’t they conscripted? Might explain the easy suurender[:D]

I agree as far as a nice job painting the Steyr, but I’m not buying the dio storyline…yet.
As SteveM pointed out, you have three GI’s taking down a car with a mounted MG (with magazine in place?) and a numerical superiority of soldiers inside. The very first thought I had before even reading Steve’s comment was exactly the same; "Hmm, why didn’t they just gun them down, or at least gun the motor and pray?
I think you need another few GI’s, or a good reason NOT to resist–maybe a guy with a captured Panzerfaust, or a bazooka trained on the car?
Thanks for the imput gents. The way I’m playing this one is the action is already over and the troopers are coming out from cover to take the Germans prisoners. As the Horch turned the corner the troopers fired and the horch stopped. The driver took a round in the shoulder as the Germans went for thier guns. Then seeing that they were surrounded by an unknown enemy in cover they gave up. This scene is a few of the troopers taking the Germans into custody. There might be a few more troopers still in the buildings giving cover or not??? Its up to your imagination!

Fair enough, waterboy, but just remember that the viewer(s) who will be considering your dio will not have the benefit of your explanation here in order to make sense of the scene.
I’m only saying this in case you enter it into a contest; judges will take points for a vague or confusing story line.
YOu would be better of to add a few more GI’s to give some weight to the pro-USA side, but it’s your call. [;)]
I understand your concern and admit you have a valid point Doog, but I haven’t entered a contest since I was in my 30’s over 20 years ago. I quit when a saw a so called expert judge reduce a novice builder to tears with his opinion of the model. I have only build for me and my close friends since. I build only to relax and enjoy the process,[#toast]
I like it, very good looking rubble too. Nice painting on the car. Maybe riddle the car up a bit more with bullets and shatter the windshield? Make it look like an ambush. And just to let you guys know I’ve read some pretty amazing stories about Canadians at Dieppe doing unbelievable things. So I wouldn’t be surprised at 3 GI’s taking this down even with an MG. Don’t forget the element of surprise and the fact that real troops have emotions and fear and get confused.
All in all though I feel it is pretty believable and I have no problem viewing this and understanding it without over thinking into a complex scenario.
I had a similar experience at one of the modeling clubs and I decided that I’d be better off just not belong to any club and just learn to build models by myself (of course with help of great friends in FSM).
Anyway, your work looks good and turning into something nice. I really like the ground work you’ve done. What did you use for the cobble stone street?
The Doogster has made a good point and those are the things that judges may grill you on. However, you are building it for your own enjoyment and you are not building it to be judged by them anyway.
As for fewer Americans taking down numerically superior Germans is not that uncommon thing during WWII. Many German army troops were also “imported” soldiers from all over the Europe and there were many cases where they surrendered in large numbers (exception of SS and fanatic nazy supporting troops) whenever opportunity presented itself. Also, even German troops who were just fed up with the war (and some of them already knew that the War was going to end soon in favor of the Allies) surrendered in large numbers as well. I’m not talking out of my butt either because I’m a former paratrooper and we were told many stories (well documented) about these incidents to boost up our ego and morale. By the end of Invasion of Normandy, 82nd and 101 ABN INF Divisions collected significant number of prisoners of war. Hey, you are talking about paratroopers. We fight against all odds and against superior number of enemies and we get things done one way or the other.
