Guys: I’ve been keeping pretty busy on this build for the War in the Desert GB…This is the Tamiya 1/35 kit and it has been a real joy to build, I highly recommend it[tup]. I thought I’d share it with you to get your input before I finish. I have a few steps left on the weathering, then I’ll be putting it on its base and I may add some figures too.
doog: I must remind you of a guy named Mark, but I’m still Steve[;)]. Thanks for taking a look and the compliment. The weathering on this one has been a lot of fun…a little different than tanks…NO rust at all. I also think I learned biffa’s way of using oils for heavy wear areas. I was surprised how it dried flat, both in sheen and “thickness”. I’m guessing that the dullcote, pretty heavily applied, absorbed the oils…I’ll definately be using this technique on my next builds. I’ll post walk-around pic’s soon.
tigerman: Yes, go get yourself one of these kits, you’ll really like it!!![tup] It is easy to build and the options for the cargo area are great.
wbill76: Glad you noticed the cushions, and thanks…I spent some time to get that right…I am real pleased with the results.
Steve, you won’t believe this, but I just called disastermaster “Tigerman” over on my E-100 thread! [%-)][sigh] Seriously, I don’t know WHAT is going on with me and keeping names and tanks straight! (I called a Panther a KIng Tiger on another post! [sigh])
Seriously, I think I’m going to have to get a new ventilation system in here or something! Before I really start losing friends!
When I start calling my OWN models something esle than they really are, will you please send a doctor to my apartment here, and maybe the guys in the white van? [(-D]
Doog it is simply because you are confused. There is too much jumpin’ around, gluin’ stuff we obviously we’re not meant to glue. Me building tanks, you building cars. Lord knows where we may end up. It’s just getting to confusing. Maybe we should all just stay in our own respective areas.
Ok so now let me comment on this truck since that irs really what this thread is for…
Fred?.. Bob?.. Jimmy? no that’s the truck[%-)] ah heck… whoever you are[;)]…that is just gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing it completed.
dupes: Glad to bring back army memories for you…watch out for those deer[;)]
doog: I’m starting to worry about you too…I’ve been reading some posts of yours here and there and noticed transposed letters and mis-spelled words. You may want to add a respirator mask to you arsenal for dual protection!!![;)]
Sir D: Thanks you sir…by the way, what are you working on these days?
wing_nut: Glad you like it so far, final pic’s will be coming soon.
mg.mikael: I may add some fuel drums. I might even take the engine that came with the kit (not installed) and add put it in the back on some wood blocks. I have an extra tire too because the kit had duplicate sprues(intentionally), but only one spare needed to be added.
Wow SMJ, that is awesome! You must have spent years restoring that. Have you had it running yet?
Oh wait. it’s a model…[(-D]
Fantastic build. I can only hope one day my weathering will be a fraction as good as yours. I am in awe. Your Jimmy has been saved to my great models picture file.
Boomerang: Very kind words, mate, thank you…but don’t save it to your picture file just yet because I’m not quite done[;)]. I read in another one of your posts that you haven’t been here on the forum for awhile so you’re probably not aware of the group builds that are going right now. This Jimmy is for the “War in the Desert-African Campaign” group build. I’m adding the final touches now that really add “context”…pastels, desert base, etc…I hope you’ll take a look when I post the final pic’s.
Yeah, i haven’t been around much since xmas. I have been moving, and a big one at that. New home and new job. So much has been happening here, it’s taking me so long to catch up on all the ‘goss’.
Mate, i can’t wait to see this finished…i sure will be taking a look!!
LMFAO!!! [(-D] I just got back here and saw this thread and post–excellent! You have the BEST “Smileys”! Its like you found a secret stash of them in the backyard or something!
An “esle” is thatold car that never sold really well–you know, “my uncle’s old Esle”? LOL!
No seriously–there’s no “SpellCheck” in Firefox" on the FSM site, so sometimes my bad typing gets me in trouble!
