Winter time beater "RAMBLER"

We snowmobile in Redfield, on the Tug Hill Plateau in upstate NY . Some of the best snowmobiling in the east! Anyway, most people have winter beaters they run so the salt and sand doesn’t ruin their nice rides. I built this a few years ago after Jo-Han re-issued the Rambler. As soon as I saw it I said “Beater”. Scrounged the six banger from the parts bin as with the stuff in the trunk. Note the duct tape on the seats. Thanks for looking and I hope you eNJoy.

Outstanding detail, very realistic. [8D]

Very Nice!! My winter car looks very much like that.

What a beater! Love the rust and duct tape!! [tup]

Looks like a Hawaiian car![:)]

Just out of curiosity, how did you do the duct tape?

Duct tape was made from masking tape painted silver and cut into thin strips.

that looks soo cool!! love the weathering!!
thanks for makin my school mascot so “rustic” our team name is the Ramblers…hehehehe-DJ

Pretty similar, then, to my method of making duct tape–I use Bare-Metal Foil and paint it a 50-50 mixture of flat medium gray and silver chrome (both Testor’s Model Master enamels).

Nice is probably not the right word!!! A great model though - very clever!

Great build. I’ll bet a lot of work went into getting that beater look. Those were great cars way back…

Thanks for showing it here, Bill.

EXCELLENT!! How do you do the rust and the weathering. i do military so I normally use a wash. How was yours done?

[#ditto] You dd a superb job on the weathering, very realistic.

Also where did you get the wheels/tires?

An excellent rendition of the “Kenosha Cadillac” in it’s natural state. You Wisconsin guys ought to recognize it.
