Greetings fellas. I’d like to share my latest build, from WnW, and built for Bish’s Gift GB, pretty much OOB except for the Master barrels/cooling jackets for the twin Spandaus and the Gaspatch turnbuckles. EZ line was used for all the rigging (what there is of it on the D.VII). The kit presented no major issues at all - typical WnW quality. The most labor intensive parts of the build were the decals, due to the sheer number of them - 54 on the lower wing and 79 on the upper wing. Weathering was kept to a minimum using post shading and Tamiya weathering powders, just to indicate light use and emphasize the structure beneath the fabric. The aircraft depicted is the one flown by Carl Degelow of Jasta 40, Spring 1918. Anyway, on to the pics. Comments and critiques are always encouraged.
Eric, what you’ve heard about 'em is true. That was my fourth WnW build, and each one was even more enjoyable than the previous one. They are an absolute joy to build, even if WWI ain’t one’s thing.
f8, thanks man! When I saw a period photo of Degelow’s bird in the instructions, minus all the cowling pieces to show a bit more of the engine, I said “that’s the one I’m building!”
Tim, I’m thinking my next WnW build will be the Sopwith Tripe - no rib tape decals! [:D] (although, as you said, they do look very cool once applied). [Y]
