As the others have said, there are very good reasons that threads reach such high numbers of posts. If I were you, I’d click the link to go to the newest post in a long thread. That’s what I do.

On a boating forum I was on they used to edit/compress completed boat restoration threads once the build was finished. All of the “atta boys” and “check out my new hamster” comments were deleted but all of the relevant, helpful tips were left in. I’d rather see that than imposing a thread count. <-pun.

You do know that you can plonk down inside a thread wherever you want. You’ll have to guess, but say you remember some extremely rare bit of actual wisdom offered by me “last fall”, with a little mental math you can guess it’s halfway back, and go back halfway.
So for instance, the search window shows this right now for where this post is:

That “=3” at the end means page 3.
If you are looking at a 50 page thread, highlight the “50” and replace it with “25” then enter.
It’ll put you on page 25 which is hopefully within easy walking distance of where you want to be.
Why does it seem as though there is an onslaught of belly aching taking place. First there was the ridiculous " What I’d like to see when I open a box" debacle . Then came the individual who apparently felt people that construct posts with grammatical errors to be down right insipid. Now this thread. I have a question,why is this narcissistic thread so long ?
