Hello gents,
I was just curious why there was no C-5 model in 1/200 scale? I know that there were a couple of C-141’s and KC-10 in 1/200 and the 1/144 scale C-5 is becoming more scarce than Elvis> Any thoughts would be great. Thanks
Hello gents,

I’ve never been able to figure this one out. There must be some legal issues I don’t know about. I’ve heard that the old Otaki molds are lying at the bottom of the ocean, but I don’t see why another company can’t just make new molds. I know for sure that a new C-5 in 1/200 or 1/144 scale would sell like hotcakes. At least Revell Germany is going to satisfy my C-17 desire this fall.
maybe it’s because the FRED is so big? It would be cool to see one in 1/72nd though… but seing as you could easily throw two M1 Abrams on it (more can fit spacially but would exceed ACL).
you could also stuff two Chinooks plus tow bar and supply pallets… or strikers, 36 463L pallets, many many hummers, oh boy dont even get me started on lower deck seat kits.
If I got started building Heavies I would be in deep kimchi because I know the ins and outs of all their cargo decks.
Thank you for the input fellas. It just crossed my mind when i see the RG 1/144 An-124 and the new C-17 coming out. Would be great to see a FRED, maybe they will make one of the new re-engined C-5M…one can hope right.
Cheers

I think they are giving them the new 747 engines so you could do a kitbash… then again finding a C5 is still the main problem. LOL
At least now I know why that old Otaki kit costs an arm and a leg on e-bay …[:(]
Is that an urban myth, or did it really happen ? I have heard of more than one model that the original moulds have been lost forever (bottom of the ocean)
