oh, dont get me wrong, I agree with your point 100%. Abuse is abuse is abuse, irrespective of the amount. I was just putting the numbers in perspective. More of our money (tax money) will be mis-spent in bailing out rich cats than in misguided foreign aid. I do not know where “pork” falls on that gradient…
Here a bit of news, to sort of inject some “space” into this subject.
India also has one of the higest poverty rates in the world and the highest global rate of tuberculosis…should they spend their money on moon missions or TB control measures?
Juan Bautista, Vasco Balboa, Vitus Bering, John and Sebastion Cabot, Cabral Alverez, Jaun Cabrillo, Jaquis Cartier, Samual Champlain, Christopher Columbus, James Cook, Fransico Coronado, Hernando Cortez, Sir Francis Drake, Henery Hudson, Ferdinand Magellan, Marco Polo, Sir Walter Raleigh, Leif Erikson, Sir Edmund Hilary, Lewis and Clark !
That is just a fraction of those who changed the world and mankind.
It’s pretty obvious to me that we need to keep going before we (mankind) get caught with our pants down and no where to go and no options.
It’s more than looking for a new place to live though, it’s about being human and looking for our greatest challange.
To Quote the late Sir Edmund Hillery.
“It is not the mountains that we conquer, but ourselves”
