Why can't you finish a build?

For me it is procrastination. I have given up almost all my tv time. Still, I can’t seem to complete any builds, though I’m getting close on my latest Group Build.

This is the best poll ever. Only one choice so it is very easy for the voters to choose.

Oh BTW, I have to abstain from this one.[:D][(-D][(-D]

Seriously, I think the hobby should be fun. If you don’t feel like building, don’t force yourself. Relax and maybe you should try watching documentaries or movies related to armor. That may give your the urge.[;)]

Sorry I tried editing this topic and it won’t let me. There were supposed to be 7 choices:

  1. Procrastination
  2. Watch too much tv
  3. Spend too much time in the forums
  4. Family
  5. Too tired
  6. Work
  7. Other

Sorry, this is embarressing. It said it changed successfully.

No it is not embarrassing. Actually I thought that you did it on purpose for emphasis.

And since you broadenned the list…I have to say

  1. Family & 5. Too tired.

Although you might say that I am fast with my works…there are some times when I could not sit on the workbench for a week or so. It happens to us all…I guess.

ROFL!!!

Sorry just reminds me of a few of the polls I tried to post quite some time back!

Hmmmmmm
Well I would say #3 used to be a big reason…that and FRUSTRATION!

Hopefully most of that’s all changed now though.

Thats like me,frustration is my cause when I don’t finish a project.Digger

yes, interesting ‘dictatorial’ type of poll…! My problems is that I do not have enough patience and above all I get sidelined too easily. That’s buying too much reference books and mags for you!

resin…
PE …
& anal retentive detailling…[:-^]
gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

oh…and for the moment…no work bench…LOL

OK 1,3 4,5 and 6,but i still manage to finish about 6 or so a year,this year at least…

all. and also i have this habit of zoning. its not really procrastination, i will just start dreaming about what im going to do but not actually do it. maybe it is procrastination. ohwell

Reggie hit on a big one with me… I zone… not necessarily just dreaming on what I can do to make this one a little better… but thinking back on something that happened at work while I’m sitting at the bench… etc…

And the other cirikili hit right on… I think I am at a stage I am not happy with just another model… I wanna build each one high tech… in fact I hit on it this last weekend… I am going to buy me one of those skill level 2 Revell jobs and just slap it together to get a quick build in… I think with all the resin and PE and stuff, and the drying stages I get frustrated that it is not coming together… a completion would be satisfying…

hmmmm well i would say 3 and 7. with other being i am just plain lazy. i have two that should have been finished months ago but i just have been too lazy to do them. although i will say i have six completed in about four months.

Other?

I hate sanding seams. I sand and sand, and they just dont disappear. So, I take the next one to that point, and the next, until I’m covered in unfinished kits.

1,2,4,5,6,7. The other beening college and soccer. I go to college two night a week and play soccer two nights a week. I have a girl friend who want’s me to bring her places and then there are friends to keep in tuch with. I think I get about 4 to 6 hours of modelling a week in two hour slots.

Wish I could say procrastination, as that would imply that I actually have time to build models.
Well, actually, right now I do. And it really peeves me off, since my house is being remodeled, and I haven’t got even a square foot of space to work, but all the time in the world, which of course is bound to change to no time but pleanty of space.

I’ll take choice #8: ALL OF THE ABOVE.

LOL I guess that in a way would apply to most of us. Yes, I do have some time in the afternoon and for the most part have used it wisely of late to get a build within the proverbial “Light at the end of the tunnel”. I hope to finish up two more builds before the end of the year. Christmas is drawing near and we modelers know what that means. [:p]

I would have to go with # 8. [(-D][(-D] All of the above.

I thought I had suddenly found myself in the Eastern Bloc circa 1955 [;)]

For me it has to be, in this order:

Family 3 kids aged between 3 & 8.
Work I have to shout alot!
Too tired due to both the above!
Procrastination. I don’t know why!

I currently have 3 builds on the bench, two are in the painting stage, which I always find takes a long time, the problem with multi-colour Luftwaffe camo, and one which promises to be a long term project, due to the volume of PE, resin, scratch building, and rescribing of all the raised panel lines!

I have found having several kits on the go actually leads to me achieving more, perverse I know, but you have to understand I have the attention span of a goldfish.

So with two kits approaching completion in the next month, I have asked my LHS to lay aside something for next month!
