Why a new Kingtiger

Dragon is at it again. They are coming out with another ardennes King tiger. take a look. http://www.dragonmodelsltd.com/catalog/dml/new/6254/6254-poster.jpg

Wow. How many Tiger and King Tiger kits are there? It looks really good though, but the Fallschirmjager are confusing, very few fallschirmjager actually hooked up with the armor.
Nice kit, but another one? They should build lesser known vehicles,I think

newly tooled wheels, new “combat” track… the contents of the kit look amazing so i guess its just an update to their line [?]

I have enough axis stuff on my shelves and in my stash, I’m looking to get excited over more allied gear [:)]

[#ditto] Yeah I agree, however that wont stop me from getting this one when I find it. [:D]

Im looking foreward to the very last production KT, I need it for a dio.
This New kit comes with more extra stuff than the first one, I think thats the only major difference.

This new kit isn’t just another Kingtiger, its 222 from s.SS.Pz.Abt 501. It is one of the most famous because german propaganda photographers took a series pics of it with a bunch of Falshirmjägers hitchinga ride on it.
Here are some pics of 222, a few out of many.

Steel wheels, ambush scheme, OK that says Kingtiger to me.

No zim??? I thought there very few without zim? It is Ardennes though, I guess that explains it.

There you have it, THAT"S why they keep poppin’ them out, because they KNOW that people will keep buying them.
On the plus side, at least you’ll get your money’s worth in the box, and then some.

I think that it’s great that they are coming out with more kits. But I do agree that they do need to do more less know vehicles. Bryan

The application of Zimmerit stopped on September 9th 1944, all King tigers produced before this date had zim ( except chassis number V1 and V2 ) and all King tigers produced after this date didn’t have any zim, so actually many of them didn’t have zim.

GREAT!!! JUST GREAT!![:(!] Another kit I’ll have to save up for!!!

How many KT’s does this make from both Tamiya and DML? Six or seven? I do want the last production KT but I want a U.S. halftrack series and a British Comet even more.

Guys
Having built both versions of DML’s Henschel King Tiger I will admit to being very impressed with the first Ardennes version, you get loadsa goodies with it, and it’s a nice kit to build. I think I may well end up getting this new one too.

Just a quick question about dragon.
What was everyone’s opinion on building dragon armor in 1/35? I always thought Tamiya had the best armor. What do you all think? Who makes the best armor kits?

Thanks,
Tank

Tankbuster: Dragon’s the up-and-comer, IMHO. Some of their older stuff may not be so hot (at least according to what I’ve heard) but their newer releases are equal to, if not better than, Tamiya in terms of overall quality. Toss in a handful of extra goodies like they did with their 3 in 1 Tiger, and you’ve got wayyyy more bang for your buck than with Tamiya. Also, from what I can tell from the few DML figures I’ve worked with, they’re detailed just as well as Tamiya and are easier to work with as they break down into more pieces (separate heads being the issue I run into often).

For my two little cents’ worth, Dragon has the potential to surpass Tamiya completely. As for right this minute, I mix n’ match Tamiya and DML kits, and so far I’ve had good luck with both.

Dragon, Dragon, Dragon…
Fresh thinking, bigger scope and the nice oddies.
The KT #222 is a good example of how the suppliers should be financing the next, completely fresh build.

Which is undoubtedly the best business strategy possible! [;)]

That’s what I get for jumping on their first King Tiger henschel. I lose out on all the extras.

To my knowledge all the Porsche versions had zimmerit, but few of the Henschels.

I’ve got this kit and it was a great kit to build the barrel is sweet to so it worth getting and i fits great

Panzer, are you sure. It’s not released yet… You may be confused with the other Ardennes one.
