wht to do with spares

Okay I know that every modeler should keep a spares box but my problem is I do l different subjects, armor, WWII and modern aircraft. All of these spare parts have really accumulated. I would need several boxes, I already have a spare closet for all of my unbuilt kits. Any neat orderly suggestions for these extra unused parts?

There is always Jmarc’s parts yard. Jmarc runs a spart parts stash for those modellers who need to replace a part missing or damaged.

cheers

Mike

I use one of those Plano fishing tackle organizers with the adjustable spacers, they come in every size you can imagine, just check the fishing section of any department store, you should be able to find something to suit your needs.

Send them to me[:D]

My sugstion, have fun with them…
Have you ever thought about just playing w/ different pieces and parts, a little sheet styrene and some extra time? I’ve started and almost finished one of my funest projects yet, a sci-fi space fighter based on absolutely nothing, it contains all spare/scratchbuilt parts… since there’s nothing it’s based from… I can mix all scales and all kinds of parts… aircraft controls mixed w/ a mixture of auto/ jet engine fighter plane parts… just sit down and goof around, enjoy yourself… this hobby’s supposed to be fun!!! So step out of your bubble, and put some of the more common parts to a new and original use!!!

I bought one of the plastic storage racks designed for holding various screws & washers or other small hardware. Works well for lots of spare parts, & keeps them organized.

Me too. I went to Canadian Tire and found a suitable item for about 20 bucks. Beforehand, I had all my spares in shoe boxes, but that was just not practical and nevermind useful. This way, they’re all organized into relatively similar categories, and if I ever need more detail, I know where to look.

I’ve got a bunch of fishing tackle boxes - each for a different subject - they’ve got a couple of fold down trays and a larger space underneath - great for all sorts of things.
Planes, cars, bikes, armor - I’ve got about 20 years worth of “crap” - and every now and again these relics come in very handy - either for scratchbuilding of to help out someone who needs something that I have and don’t really need.

[:)]That a good answer, I never thought of that…
